VAR Technology Will Debut in Late August in Finnish Football: GOAL SPORT SOFTWARE is the System Provider for the Suomen Palloliitto - Football Association of Finland The introduction of VAR (Video Assistant Referee) in Finland will begin with the men's Finnish Cup semi-final on August 21. It will also be used in the women's and men's Finnish Cup Super Weekend finals in September 2024, as well as in Veikkausliiga qualifying matches and the Euro final tournament. Before these events, VAR testing will occur at the Helsinki Cup. For the 2024-2025 seasons, a mobile VAR center will operate from a VAR car (OB van), enabling its use in all stadiums. Plans for 2026 include implements a VAR center to support VAR operations. Goal Sport Software has worked closely with local integrator Mediatrade Oy on the infrastructure to ensure smooth technical implementation. 📹 Suomen Palloliitto - Football Association of Finland (English captions available). ⚽ What are the potential differences in match running performance of professional soccer players before scoring and conceding a goal? 📊 📢 I have the pleasure of announcing that a new article, which I co-authored, has been just published in Scientific Reports (Nature Portfolio), titled "Match running performance preceding scoring and conceding a goal in men’s professional #soccer" 💡. Together with my research team, including Marek Konefał, Błażej Szmigiel, Bogdan Bochenek, Ryland Morgans, we analysed data from 278 matches in the Polish Ekstraklasa S.A. to understand the differences in running performance of players 5 minutes before scoring and conceding a goal. Our findings reveal that teams scoring goals exhibit significantly higher running activity during this period. Phase 6 Complete ✅ It has been just over two years since launching the NLG Scouting Software and to date we’ve completed six phases of product development. In addition to evaluating 15,000 players at the click of a button, we’ve added a Twitter/X style news feed, a fixture recommendation tool linked to a client’s watchlist, an EFL loans tab and an advanced filter to pinpoint specific player profiles. Our initial mission was ‘to create an efficient and affordable edge for football clubs to expand their coverage into the non-league market’. Having partnered with several clubs in each division from the Premier League, EFL and National League, we believe we’ve fulfilled this initial mission. Today, as we launch our new website, it is time to set new challenges. We’ll enter the 2024/25 season with a greater mission - to unlock the full potential of the non-league market - with Martial Godo (former Margate FC and current Fulham and England U20) flying the NLG flag as brand ambassador. The abundance of talent in the non-leagues was the original inspiration for this company but along the way, we’ve been surprised how quickly players get signed, polished and then become youth internationals. There are now former non-league players in the most recent Spain U18, Portugal U17, England U20 and England U21 squads. We’re not looking for the odd player that has slipped through the net. The non-leagues is a production line of talent and a proven pathway into the professional game. The next wave is already out there and we want to make it easy for clubs to discover them.
