TWENTYTWO13: Get more persons with disabilities, Orang Asal involved in digital workforce - Gobind “Earlier this week, I attended two events, one related to women in tech, and the other on AI technical and vocational education and training (TVET). I spoke about the need to encourage and inspire young girls, youths, and persons with disabilities to pursue AI and other tech-related courses and career paths to support the government’s mission to build a high-quality and inclusive digital workforce." #MalaysiaMADANI #Inclusivity #Diversity #AI

Today, we celebrate Global Accessibility Awareness Day with insights from Mike Paciello, Chief Accessibility Officer at AudioEye. Mike envisions technology that automatically adapts to users, leveraging AI, automation, and mixed reality to create inclusive digital ecosystems. He proposes a fund where 1 USD per person with a disability globally is used to invest in accessibility tech and education. This endowment could revolutionize accessibility, ensuring continuous support and innovation. Let's work together to build a future where technology adapts to everyone, promoting digital inclusion every day. Video Description: Title: Celebrating Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) with Mike Paciello, Chief Accessibility Ambassador. [Headshot of Mike]. Transcript: “What I'd like technology to do that it currently doesn't do is adapt to the user automatically. Now, with the advent of artificial intelligence, automation, and virtual reality/mixed reality, it's critical that we build intelligent interfaces that don't edge out users with disabilities. Imagine a digital ecosystem that features self-adapting technology regardless of a person's ability. We can continue to promote accessibility beyond Global Awareness Day by creating a monetary fund, in which 1 USD is put in for every person with a disability. That's the one plus billion people in the world. Then we use that billion dollars to create an endowment fund whose sole purpose is to invest in technology and educational solutions for people with disabilities. Now that's global awareness.” #GAAD #GAAD2024 #Accessibility #A11y #Inclusion #DigitalInclusion #DigitalAccessibility #AccessibleTech #TechForAll #DisabilityRights #InclusiveDesign #WebAccessibility #AI #Automation

As a kid, being grounded wasn't fun, but it was mom's way to align our behaviors to her expectations. In AI, curiously, grounding provides a way to align AI outputs to trusted sources of information. It is not surprising then, that #digitaltransformations are also being "grounded" - in this case through commitments like the Charter of Solfagnano, to ensure they prioritize #dignity, #inclusion and #empowerment of all persons society-wide. "We encourage the productive world of innovation to develop support systems, assistive technologies and tools that can be enabling and rehabilitating, with a view to maximising independence and autonomy of persons with disabilities in all aspects and dimensions of life, such as health, mobility, information, education, work, communication, autonomy, and that they are easy to understand and use by persons with disabilities." #digitalpublicinfrastructure #digitalpublicgoods #solfagnano #designfordignity #digitalempowerment #leavingnoonebehind

Remarkable findings in a study to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities show just how much AI helps with accessibility and inclusion. Working with EY, we conducted the study amongst 300 participants identifying as neurodivergent or disabled, mainly from Europe. Here are two of the most striking stats: 91% of people said Microsoft Copilot really helps to improve communication. For example, one person with hearing loss said it has been great for summarizing phone calls. 76% said it’s helped them with simplifying tasks like writing emails and improving their written communication overall. It’s great to see how AI empowers people with disabilities to reach their potential and helps build a more inclusive workplace. There’s always more to be done and we’ll continue our work. https://lnkd.in/d7EnFs4z Jenny Lay-Flurrie; Hector Minto #IDPD2024 #InternationalDayOfPersonsWithDisabilities
