🚀 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐁𝐈 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐮𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞! 🚀 The latest Power BI update is packed with fantastic new features. Here are my top three highlights: 1️⃣ 𝐀𝐬𝐤 𝐂𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐭 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥 𝒊𝒏 𝑫𝒆𝒔𝒌𝒕𝒐𝒑 Copilot has made its way from the service to the desktop, again! You can now ask questions about your entire semantic model in Desktop, not just what’s visible on the report. Pro Tip💡 Instead of manually building your visuals, simply ask Copilot, for example, “𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘢𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘣𝘺 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘵 𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘨𝘰𝘳𝘺?” and add the resulting visual directly to your report. 2️⃣ 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐭 Overwhelmed by too many data points in your visual? Now, you can easily filter and decide how many data points should be displayed to enhance report performance. 3️⃣ 𝐃𝐀𝐗 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐕𝐢𝐞𝐰 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 Although this feature was released two weeks ago, it’s worth mentioning again: you can now build DAX queries directly in the Service, without needing Desktop. This includes creating new measures, and yes, Copilot support is included to make things even smoother. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬? I tried to demo Copilot in Power BI but it said Copilot isn't available in this report! If you press F12 to open browser developer tools, you can trace the copilotStatus API call and see more detail. See the screenshot. My capacity was recently resized from F2 to F64 for a demo, but apparently there's some caching in the Fabric service on capacity sizes so the copilotStatus API reported InvalidCapacity because it said my capacity was F2. Hopefully the cache would have updated itself eventually, but because I'm impatient, I just paused the capacity, created a new F64 capacity, and assigned the workspace to the new capacity. Voila! Copilot working again. ✨ So beware... if you are resizing capacities below F64 there may be a delay after you resize to F64 before Copilot is available for use. What's required to run Copilot in Microsoft Fabric or Power BI? Either a F64 (or higher) capacity or a P1 (or higher) capacity. It can't be a trial capacity. But it can be an F64 capacity paused when you're not using/demoing Copilot. https://lnkd.in/gbSuUVuK I've written a series on Copilot in Microsoft Fabric and Power BI: 📊 Creating a Power BI report page: https://lnkd.in/grUJGW8x ⚙️ Writing Power Query in Dataflows Gen2: https://lnkd.in/g8pM2niE 📒 In a Fabric notebook: https://lnkd.in/gpPgasdV 📏 Writing DAX measures: https://lnkd.in/gccRFQpg 🙋♂️ Writing DAX queries: https://lnkd.in/gyHFdSdP 📃 Writing DAX measure descriptions: https://lnkd.in/gTz5hVeR 🔔 Follow me for more on #PowerBI and #Copilot #MicrosoftFabric Microsoft Fabric

We caught a bit of a snag when preparing a #PowerBI demo in #Fabric that showcases #Copilot's incredible ability to generate report content from your semantic models. Thankfully, Greg was on the case and quickly sleuthed an apparent caching issue with capacity sizing in the Fabric service. Check out Greg's recommendations on how to keep Copilot readily available for your data and analytics work!

It took me a while to put this together! Honestly, I started this blog before my summer break, and I finally managed to write a blog post and create a video. I'm hoping it's a good start to blogging more.
