🚻🚽🧻 𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝘁𝗼𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘁 𝗱𝗮𝘆 🧻🚽🚻 Established by the World Toilet Organization in 2001, World Toilet Day was made an official United Nations Observance in 2013. This year's campaign '𝗧𝗼𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘁𝘀 - 𝗔 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲', raises awareness on how many people worldwide have inadequate sanitary systems. Sanitation is a human right, yet billions of people still live without safe toilet facilities. Here are some key facts published by UNICEF in 2023. 🚽 3.5 billion people still live without safely managed sanitation, including 419 million who practise open defecation. 🚿 2.2 billion people still live without safely managed drinking water, including 115 million people who drink surface water. 😢 Unsafe water, sanitation and hygiene are responsible for the deaths of around 1,000 children under 5 every day. Improving access to water, sanitation and hygiene can save 1.4 million lives per year! Safely managed sanitation is something we take for granted in the UK, but with the above in mind, we should be very grateful that we have access to it! Reflecting on World Toilet Day: Addressing the Urgent Need for Sanitation in Our Communities Today, as we celebrate World Toilet Day, I can't help but reflect on the pressing sanitation challenges faced in many of our townships. Despite the fundamental right to a toilet for every household, the reality is stark: we continue to see raw sewage in the streets, posing serious public health risks. Imagine having a flushing toilet at home, only to step outside and encounter sewage littering the streets. What good is a private sanitation solution when the public environment remains compromised? This contradiction highlights the urgent need for our government to fulfill its responsibilities effectively. The pollution of our rivers and streams by wastewater is not just an environmental issue; it has far-reaching implications. Over time, this contamination contributes to water scarcity and escalates the disease burden on our healthcare system. We must advocate for comprehensive sanitation solutions that ensure safe and clean environments for all. It's time to hold our leaders accountable for delivering proper sanitation services and protecting our communities' health. Let’s work together to create awareness and push for change. Every community deserves access to adequate sanitation without compromising public health. 💧🌍 #WorldToiletDay #SanitationForAll #PublicHealth #WaterScarcity #CommunityHealth #EnvironmentalHealth

🌍🚽 #World #Toilet Day Each year on November 19th, we observe World Toilet Day 🌍🚽, a powerful reminder of the critical need for sanitation services worldwide — especially in conflict zones where access to basic sanitation is often scarce or compromised. “When sanitation services are disrupted, untreated waste spreads deadly diseases like cholera,” says Bruce Gordon, WHO’s Water, Sanitation, Hygiene and Health unit head, and vice chair of UN-Water. “Resilient sanitation is crucial for public health, environmental protection and peace.” This year's theme, "Sanitation for Peace", couldn’t be more timely. It underscores the vital connection between safe, dignified sanitation and the stability of communities. In conflict-affected areas, access to properly managed sanitation isn’t just a health issue — it’s a matter of peace, security, and human dignity. Let’s raise awareness and push for solutions that ensure no one is left behind. 💧✊ #WorldToiletDay #SanitationForPeace #GlobalHealth #SustainableDevelopment #WaterAndSanitation https://lnkd.in/duw2wSh3

November 19 is World Toilet Day. 3.5 billion people still live without safely managed sanitation. 2.2 billion people still live without safely managed drinking water. Toilets are a place for protection. By creating a barrier between us and our waste, sanitation is essential for public and environmental health. But when toilet systems are inadequate, damaged or broken, pollution spreads and deadly diseases get unleashed. Improving access to water, sanitation and hygiene can save 1.4 million lives per year. #WorldToiletDay #DELABIE

Today, on November 19th, we join the world in observing World Toilet Day to raise awareness about the global sanitation crisis and the critical importance of proper sanitation for everyone. 🌍 3.6 billion people still do not have access to safe sanitation. It’s a reality that affects human health, dignity, and quality of life. Poor sanitation leads to the spread of preventable diseases like cholera, dysentery, and diarrhea, which are especially harmful in vulnerable communities. World Toilet Day is also about supporting the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6), which aims to ensure access to water and sanitation for all by 2030. To achieve this, we need to invest in sanitation infrastructure, improve waste treatment, and work towards sustainable solutions that protect both people and the environment. At PBE Expert, we understand that quality, safety, and compliance are key to improving health outcomes worldwide! Our initiatives, such as our work in water quality testing, sanitation infrastructure consulting, and compliance support for safe waste treatment, play a crucial role in advancing sustainable sanitation solutions. On this day, we reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that our work contributes to a healthier future, for everyone. 💚Let's continue to work together for a world where everyone has access to safe sanitation. On World Toilet Day, 19th of November 2024, the international community recognizes the ongoing global sanitation crisis which still leaves around 2 billion people without basic facilities. The day was established in 2013 by the UN and this year highlights the link between poor sanitation and serious health problems. While raising awareness, World Toilet Day also seeks to catalyze action to embrace innovative sanitation solutions to tackle the crisis. As the COVID-19 pandemic underscores the essential role of sanitation, the call to action is clear: let's intensify our efforts, campaign for better sanitation infrastructures, and strive for universal access to toilets – ensuring a clean, healthy and dignified future for all. #PeopleOfAction
