Watching the Paris Olympics has been both inspiring and a bittersweet reminder of how close I came to qualifying. The journey to secure a spot in cross country mountain biking at the Olympics is incredibly challenging. With around 60% fewer riders on the start line compared to a typical World Cup race, even some of the world's best miss out. For Paris, my only path was to finish in the top 2 at the 2023 World Championships among riders from nations without an automatic spot. The automatic spots were awarded to the top 19 countries in the world ranking. I achieved my best-ever result, finishing 59th, but missed the wild card qualification by just 62 seconds—less than 2% off the pace needed to qualify in a race just under 1.5 hours. I've often reflected: Could I have trained harder? Prepared better? Raced more strategically? But then I remind myself of the path I took—balancing a full-time job with 12-18 hours of weekly training, building my own team, securing incredible sponsors, and gaining invaluable experience. The breakthrough performances at the Olympics, especially from the Olympic Federation of Ireland team has only made me more determined to keep the dream alive and help qualify Ireland a spot for the next Olympics in LA 2028 🇺🇸 Dawson Racing is already supported by some amazing brands, and I'm excited to keep building on this momentum. When the Odds Say No, Your Team Can Say YES Canada just stunned the world by winning gold 🥇 in the men’s 4x100 relay at the Paris championships. Here’s the twist: Not a single runner on this team made the finals in the individual 100M or 200M races. NOT A SINGLE ONE. They 🇨🇦 qualified for the final with one of the slowest times, relegating them to the dreaded outside lane. And as the race began, Canada found themselves in 6th place after the first leg. But the team dug deep. They clawed their way up to 3rd, and then Andre De Grasse, OLY stormed through the anchor leg to clinch a victory that no one saw coming. Well, the truth is, nobody saw it coming except for this team. _________ This win wasn’t about individual glory; it was about the power of collective accountability.
