This week, I had the pleasure of touring with Port Saint John to five terminals and it was impressive. Situated a mere 110 km from the US border, DP World’s terminal stands as an impressive North Atlantic Gateway. As close as it gets, this terminal serves as a nexus for European goods entering North American markets. What fascinated me was its operation, seamlessly complementing multipurpose cargo movements serving both Canadian and US customers. What particularly caught my eye was the terminal's 'Free-Zone Status' Logistics Park. This element adds immense value because it works as a regional distribution hub, offering a large storage capacity that's ideal for long-term storage. Plus, it permits light manufacturing processes, enhancing its appeal as a multi-functional storage solution. Last but not least, the state-of-the-art facilities, including the improved automated truck gates and queuing lanes, the 9,000 ft of rail capacity, four warehouses, and the plan to increase reefer plugs to 400, all combined to make DP World’s Saint John terminal a high-tech logistics haven. Walking away from this tour, it was clear that Port Saint John offers a lucrative proposition for prospective clients. With its strategic location, vast offerings, and forward-looking infrastructure, this isn't just a port, it’s a complete logistics solution paving the way for efficient, expansive, and effective global trade.
