Heart on Main Street is raising money to help retailers impacted by recent storms throughout the US. In the last two weeks, deadly tornados have affected entire communities and destroyed locally-owned businesses in Oklahoma, Nebraska, Iowa and Texas. This year alone, already hundreds of locally-owned independent retail stores have become victims of natural disasters. These unexpected disasters have affected retailers in every part of the country. While businesses are insured, there is often a gap between the cost of recovery and what they are paid out. This leaves retailers on the hook for thousands of dollars if they want to re-open their store and remain a part of the community. Independent retailers are huge drivers of the local economy and helping these retailers recover brings hope back to these affected communities. They bring a sense of normalcy to areas that have lost so much. We would love to help as many retailers and communities as possible, so, if you are able, please consider making a donation to Heart on Main Street, and help these communities recover. https://lnkd.in/gtdW9Tef
Did you know? Even a small donation can make a big difference in the lives of those impacted by the tornadoes. Here at Heart on Main Street, we believe in the power of community. Join us in supporting the recovery efforts in Oklahoma and Nebraska. Together, we can show the strength and compassion of our retail community. Donate now: https://lnkd.in/g7-tixGe

Congrats 1up Counseling Services on your inaugural year!
2024 Wrap-up! In our inaugural year, 1up Counseling Services proudly delivered 188 counseling sessions to nearly 20 clients, with 85% of those sessions occurring in the last six months – we are growing! As a start-up, our financial gains were modest, but we remained committed to our mission. We donated over 10% of our earnings to charitable organizations that support individuals with intellectual and developmental differences (IDD) and families in need. A heartfelt thank you to all our friends, family members, and everyone we collaborated with this year. We are excited to see what 2025 has in store for us!

🌱 Why Green Schoolyards Matter: Cultivating Connection and Collaboration 🌱 Green schoolyards are more than just outdoor spaces – they are living classrooms and community hubs that foster deeper connections, collaboration, and resilience in young minds. The Power of Nature on Development Biophilic design – integrating natural elements into daily environments – taps into our innate connection to nature. For children, this connection is transformative: 🔹 Encourages Curiosity & Exploration – Natural spaces invite open-ended play, sparking creativity and independent thinking. 🔹 Promotes Collaboration – Green spaces encourage cooperative play, problem-solving, and teamwork, reinforcing social bonds and communication skills. 🔹 Builds Emotional Intelligence – Engaging with nature nurtures empathy, patience, and a sense of responsibility for living things. Strengthening Social Fabric 🌿 Inclusive & Accessible Spaces – Green schoolyards provide shared environments where children of all abilities and backgrounds interact, fostering a culture of inclusivity and mutual respect. 🌿 Community Engagement – These spaces often double as community gardens and gathering areas, strengthening relationships between families, educators, and neighbors. 🌿 Resilient Problem-Solvers – Hands-on experiences with nature teach adaptability and perseverance, essential skills for navigating an unpredictable world. Beyond the Classroom Green schoolyards inspire lifelong stewardship and collaboration. By investing in nature-rich environments, we cultivate stronger communities, deeper connections, and more resilient futures for everyone. 🌎 Let’s grow spaces where children don’t just learn – they connect, create, and thrive together. The issue of low-quality in-kind donations is a well-known problem in both charity work and disaster response operations. Arizona State University’s Mahyar Eftekhar, an associate professor of supply chain management at the W. P. Carey School of Business, and two associates conducted a field experiment in the Phoenix chapter of The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, to help improve in-kind donations this holiday season and beyond. https://lnkd.in/g-zx3wCj

This Giving Tuesday, join golf legend Gary Player and the Gary & Vivienne Player Foundation in inspiring young leaders to give back. The "Kids Helping Kids" Giving Tuesday Challenge invites junior golfers of all skill levels to take on a 90-hole golf challenge to support children in need. This initiative goes beyond golf, empowering youth to make a meaningful impact on the lives of vulnerable children. What is Giving Tuesday? Giving Tuesday is a global movement dedicated to generosity. On December 3, join Place of Hope in transforming lives through generosity and action. Whether you participate in the golf challenge or make a donation, your support will provide critical resources for children and families in need. Funds raised will fuel Place of Hope’s "God’s Children. Our Future." Campaign, which provides housing, reduces food insecurity, and supports families in crisis. Every swing and every contribution creates a legacy of hope. Not a golfer? You can still support Place of Hope this Giving Tuesday by donating to help every child and family receive the care they deserve. To register or donate, click the link below and note "Place of Hope" in your contribution. Together, we can build a stronger community – one child, one family, one swing at a time. Not only do Utilities give us life necessities in the form of power, but they also have missions and goals around impacting their communities. I work with Utilities across the USA and nearly every conversation involves community impact or community outreach. The local community is the customer and the customer is the priority. I applaud this Industry and those in it for keeping the customer top of mind. Duke Energy Corporation #utilitiesgiveback #communityimpact #giveback #powerthefuture #utilityjobs
