PE firms and institutional capital specially are attracted to sports for several reasons including: ➊ Steady rise in team valuations ➋ Strong media rights contracts ➌ Predictable revenue streams ➍ Ancillary businesses and real estate ➎ Global growth and popularity of sports This chart is interesting to me. As you can see the deal value has been fairly inconsistent over the past 10 years, but the deal count has steadily grown (which could be indicative of other macroeconomic factors).
