During #PetWellnessMonth, we'd be remiss if we didn't mention the DANGERS of Halloween for your pets. As the holiday approaches, be sure to keep your animals safe – 🍬 While candy is a treat for humans, it can be very tricky for pets! Keep your treats out of reach and away from hungry little critters. 🎃 Halloween decorations can be awfully dangerous for curious cats and naughty dogs. Ingested decorations can be problematic and candles can be toxic to many. Enjoy the holiday, but choose your decorations wisely. 👻 Costumes are fun but they can cause undue stress! Pet costumes should only be used for short periods of time. If your pet seems unhappy or stressed, please take them off. 🏠 If you partake in trick or treating, note that unusual visitors might cause your pets stress. Consider putting your pets in a back room or find a way to keep the night fun for all. This Halloween, keep your pets happy and well!

5 Critical Mistakes Parents Make with Dogs and How to Avoid Them Navigating the dynamic between children and dogs requires careful consideration. Here are the top mistakes many parents unknowingly make and the steps to prevent them: Wrong Breed Choice: -While no dog is inherently child-aggressive, certain breeds may be less tolerant of children. -Choosing the right breed for your family is crucial to ensure harmony between your dog and your kids. Lack of Boundaries: -Both children and dogs need clear boundaries. -Think of yourself as the referee, ensuring fairness and understanding on both sides to prevent conflicts. Lack of Supervision: -Most accidents between dogs and children occur when no one is watching. -Never leave a child alone with a dog, regardless of how well they get along. Dogs as Christmas Gifts: -The excitement of a new puppy can fade quickly once the holiday season ends. -A dog should be a well-considered addition to the family, not just a holiday surprise. Lack of Exercise: -An under-exercised dog is more likely to be irritable, especially if a child is poking or pulling on it. -Ensuring your dog gets enough physical activity is key to maintaining a calm and happy pet. By avoiding these common pitfalls, you can foster a safe and loving environment where both your children and dogs can thrive together. #DogTraining #ParentingTips #PetSafety #FamilyPets

New Year’s Eve celebrations can be stressful for our furry friends, and ensuring their safety is important for their well-being and peace of mind for you as a pet parent. Many pets go missing during the festivities—don’t let yours be one of them! Here are 3 simple steps to help protect your pets today: ~Create a Safe Space: Keep them indoors in a quiet, secure area. Provide distractions like a TV, calming music, or a toy filled with their favorite treat to help ease their anxiety. 🐶🐱 ~Check Their ID: Make sure your pet’s ID tags are up to date and securely attached to their collar. ~Burn Off Energy: Take your dog on a long walk during the day to help them stay calm later. Once the celebrations start, keep them indoors. If they need to go outside, always use a leash to prevent sudden escapes. If you lose or find a pet, be sure to check with neighbors and your local shelters.
