In this report we examine reasons why branded food products companies have relocated corporate HQs and expanded production facilities in Texas. At mid-year, historical valuation multiples for our composite of publicly traded agriculture and food industry participants remain modestly above year ago levels but below pre-pandemic multiples. Half of our industry segments were above year ago multiples in a year which remains cyclically challenging for agriculture focused companies. How can we make grocery stores of all types in New Hampshire work more integrally within our food system-- especially in sourcing products grown and produced here? Give us your insights during the public comment period for the Grocery Stores & Retail Food Cooperatives brief below! 🥩 🥕 🥦
Hi folks! I'm happy to share about the work I embarked on as a part of the NH Food and Agriculture Strategic Plan. As a part of a team of subject matter experts, I authored the Grocery Stores & Retail Food Cooperatives brief, which is now open for public comment through November 20. Food system folks, farmers, and eaters: I welcome your thoughts and feedback, and hope you’ll take a few minutes to review the brief and provide comments through this link: https://lnkd.in/eQHzukX6 The Grocery Stores & Retail Food Cooperatives seeks to highlight the unique opportunities and challenges of sourcing local and regional food through retail food stores (including independently-owned markets, regional and national chain supermarkets, and cooperative food stores). This is one of 27 briefs that make up the core of the NH Food and Agriculture Strategic Plan. Each week, the NH Food Alliance sends a Brief Public Comment Period Alert where briefs that are open for public comment are available. This is a meaty topic and the public comment process plays an important role to bring the final strategic plan into a representation of many perspectives and voices within our food system. You can check out the NH Food and Agriculture Strategic Plan as it unfolds on nhfoodalliance.org.

When the pushback on, or the argument against, #innovation is that it will put a conventional market out of business, the argument quickly loses credibility for me. Innovation is #disruptive. Innovation can bring market efficiency, fill gaps in demand or supply, solve challenges such as #climatechange, #inequity or #waterquality and #abundance and, in many cases, result in more jobs and greater #prosperity. In this article in vegconomist - the vegan business magazine (I am not #vegan, btw), the author explains that Warren Davidson, the Ohio Congressperson from the 8th District recently introduced the REAL Meat Act of 2024 to prohibit using federal funds for any activity related to cultivated meat, including research, production, promotion, and advertisement. The author further explains that, as part of Congressperson Davidson's argument for this Act, that cultivated meat threatens the livelihood of traditional meat producers. This is where this Congressperson lost me - as does most everyone who uses this argument to lobby. Denying innovation the opportunity to flourish stifles growth and prosperity. While Congressperson Davidson also argues that cultivated meat poses health risks, for which there is no evidence to point, but I have wondered myself, the fact that the argument is positioned to protect the conventional economy (an economy for which we have much to be thankful and much for which it must apologize and repair) by choking the funding of innovation...means stagnant growth or shrinking of the economy is more likely. Let's continue to support innovation, growth and the pursuit of a sustainable #economy. #decarbonization #gigacorn #agriculture https://lnkd.in/g46TGxq9
