🚨 PR's Geographical Gap: London's Young Pros Stay South of Birmingham 🚨 I've not been able to get Brazen PR's recent 'Mind the Gap' report out of my head all day. Working within the PR industry and a massive champion of the North, I'm shocked by some of the stats. I'm always advocating talent to stay up North because truly, there's some of the most excited campaigns coming out of agencies here! A startling 40% of London's young PR professionals, those fresh-faced innovators aged 18-24, rarely, if ever, cross the line that divides Birmingham from the rest of the UK. This finding underlines a concerning trend for an industry built on understanding diverse audiences. The report suggests a disconnect; while 70% of brand marketers believe non-London PR agencies offer a more accurate reflection of customer opinions, a London postcode still seems to trump when selecting a PR partner. This preference persists even though many acknowledge the premium cost of capital-based agencies. Emphasising the power of people over postcodes, Sasha Makel from Brazen prompts a vital industry question: How well can we represent consumers when our experience is so geographically narrow? This isn't just about travel; it's about perspective. With half of the capital's PR pros oblivious to thing like Manchester's upcoming Co-op Live - the UK's largest indoor arena - and woefully out of touch with the cost of everyday items across the UK, we have to ask if a London-centric scope is too limiting for an industry that thrives on broad horizons. As Brazen's 'Mind the Gap' report implores, for PR to truly resonate with all UK audiences, we must look beyond the capital's confines and shatter the stereotypes holding us back. #PR #MindTheGap #BrazenPR
