Thorough #DueDiligence early = project savings Site Surveys are essential to: 1) Ensure you buy the RIGHT site 2) Unlock your design team - & minimise any re-designs 3) Support the planning application - & minimise delays 4) Reduce risks and #abortivecosts Now I do not recommend clients commission ALL the surveys at the earliest stage. Best practice is to complete the right surveys at the right project stage. For example, at RIBA Stage 1 we would recommend initial surveys, then more intrusive surveys as the designs progress to RIBA Stage 2, 3 and beyond. This ensures to only commit to survey costs as the project proceeds which in turn helps protect the clients budget when the work is at risk.
