Over 1,500 large companies have made big improvements to their payment performance since the Good Business Pays campaign started almost four years ago. But there are still hundreds of companies that pay the majority of invoices late or take a long time to pay (e.g. 80 days plus is long!) . Withholding payment harms trust, confidence and growth. Our Spring 2024 Late & Slow Watchlist is where you can find the full list of the slowest and latest payers that report. It's here! The Good Business Pays CIC Late & Slow Payment Watchlist is published twice a year to feature the names of the companies who, over the past year, have reported some of the slowest payment times that in one case is 396 days! We also list those companies who report paying more than half of their invoices late - for several that means 100% of their invoices paid late. Finally, we have our running list of 'serial late payers' - those companies that have reported slow AND late payment of invoices for more than five years. Take a look at the charts to see who is on the list and why: https://lnkd.in/ePbDCTKn Liz Barclay the Office of the Small Business Commissioner said of the latest list, ”I am astonished that any firm thinks that, in a digital age when it’s possible to pay invoices almost instantaneously, it’s acceptable to pay in 90 days never mind 396 or 125. Contractual terms of that length are grossly unfair to a smaller supplier, and to pay late on top of that can amount to rubbing salt into an already fatal wound. We have hundreds of big businesses spending vast sums to update payment systems and support their essential suppliers. We must learn from them and their Boards because when everyone pays quickly and fairly everyone benefits from the economy to wider society and local communities, as well as the businesses themselves.” #paydontdelay #cashflow #latepayments #payments #smallbusiness

💸 Big Businesses Named and Shamed for Late Supplier Payments by Good Business Pays 💸 https://lnkd.in/ee6fyTS3 Disappointing, but not surprising, to see so many large companies listed as late payers on Good Business Pays' latest watchlist. This is a major issue for SMEs, who often rely heavily on a healthy cash flow to stay afloat. Late payments can have a domino effect, impacting everything from payroll to supplier payments for smaller businesses. I've unfortunately seen all sorts of tactics first hand, from lengthy PO processes to being bullied into unreasonably long payment terms. While late payment fees are an option in defence, they rarely get used due to the fear of damaging relationships and losing contracts. This puts SMEs in a difficult position. Articles like this are crucial in holding large corporations accountable. By shining a light on late payers, we can encourage them to clean up their act and prioritise timely payments. #SupplyChain #LatePayments #SMEs #BusinessResponsibility #paydontdelay

I don't use UPI – yes, you can call me old school, but it's my choice. Now, let’s move on to something more relevant: the impact of UPI on transaction recording. I've noticed a significant change in my clients' bank statements. What used to be 15-page statements have turned into 150 pages, both for savings and current accounts. A lot of these transactions are through UPI. There's no doubt that UPI is user-friendly, but when clients want to write their accounts want to audit their bank accounts, they often struggle to understand the details of these 150-page statements. So, how do you maintain your expenses if you're spending via UPI? One important aspect to consider is the psychological difference between spending cash and using UPI. When cash goes out, you physically feel the spending. With UPI, however, that tangible sense of expenditure is missing and you end up with more spending. Do you agree? I'd love to hear your inputs on this! #UPI #bank #records #cash #feel
