In the NBR article below Malcolm Jackson CEO Firstcape calls for KiwiSaver to be compulsory. I agree and of course it already is compulsory for employers except in the case’s when employees: Opt out of Kiwi saver or Suspend their contributions or Are under 18 yrs old / over 65 Why would employer’s not make contributions in these circumstances ? Seems unfair to me. Are we wanting to penalise those doing it tough or decriminate on age ? Australian employers will be paying 12% from 2025 Australia have A$3.7 trillion in private retirement savings We have a 40th of this in KS. We have a retirement savings crisis in NZ getting worse every year as life expectancy and the cost of living rises, let’s start doing something about it.
