Just read a Reuters' piece about Argentinian newspaper Clarin has more than 7,00,000 paid subscribers where most of the news sites from developed countries haven't. The article enlist several reasons behind it: 1. Well constructed and well delivered journalism. 2. Exclusive perks for subscribers other than content. 3. Also, exclusive content for subscribers. This can be a thought provoking material for our local news houses even the leading ones. For example the daily DAWN has less than a lac daily subscribers. What do you think? #newspapers #theDAWN #journalism #pakistaninews

Bill Adair, Duke University professor of journalism and public policy, and an expert at fact checking, has a new book titled "Beyond the Big Lie." He examines lying politicians, and why they get away with their lies. The good folks at The Assembly interviewed Adair, and he said that news media need to change their fact-checking process. "Too often we publish fact-checks and wait for people to come to us. That’s not working because a big segment of the population doesn’t like or trust fact-checking. They’re not going to visit PolitiFact or FactCheck.org. "So we need to find ways to get the content to them, especially to conservative voters who are the most resistant to fact-checks. One way is to encourage more conservative outlets to do what The Dispatch has done–establish their own fact-checking site." For at least 20 years editors have talked about the need for a sea change in thinking: That we need to go to readers rather than to expect them to come to us. Still working on it. https://lnkd.in/e27JQyRU
