Time for North America to reject the built in China 'Green Grift' & support the reindustrialization of North America with homegrown cleaner than coal hydro, nuclear,natural gas & geothermal. Coupled with a design philosophy of reducing the emissions in the use of oil & gas not the elimination of the oil & gas industry itself. New tech like NETPower shows that it can be done!

Carbon-free power in America – some facts!

This post highlights some of the challenges confronting the development of the most appropriate structure for our future power provision.

The European Maritime Safety Agency (#EMSA) publishes numerous studies on #decarbonization of the #maritime sector, notably on new fuels, such as the latest one on e-fuels, which like all the others (ammonia, hydrogen, biofuels) addresses production, sustainability, availability, techno-economic aspects, safety of ships and #seafarers, and the regulatory landscape. In addition to distributing these comprehensive and neutral studies, EMSA organizes two days of workshops each year on decarbonization solutions, which are taking place right now. These workshops are posted on YouTube. Highly informative, they leave no stone unturned, and nuclear propulsion was the subject of a presentation yesterday. For the more curious, the presentation on nuclear propulsion starts at 5:27 on the Youtube recording. Plus, a rather consistent pre-print on the subject will be made public tomorrow. High-temperature superconducting cables that could transform the power grid may be increasingly viable, thanks to a side effect of fusion energy research and new ways to cool the wires

The industry is not moving at the pace of AI. Some plans will need to be extended to allow for critical breaker/transformer infrastructure to be secured for the massive sub-stations- not to forget the new gas or nuclear plant sitting beside these centers. It is absolutely the most dynamic time to be in the energy/utility industry!!!

All the thousands of these units will be replaced every 15-25 years. How many coal or nuclear stations can create 1.5 GW of power and last 80+ years? In places that had the first wind turbines in the USA, they started replacing them at 15-25 years and did some also have new generators and blades during that time, what was the maintenance cost? Plus in the USA in these farmlands, there is all the infrasound effects, last least this place in China is in the middle of low population areas. Did the USD 17.5 BILLION COSTdid not cover the cost of the transmission system? https://lnkd.in/g9EVDXxk
