HR Professionals - Get over yourself! 🌟 Here's the COMPELLING REASON reason why… There are lots of brilliant folks in HR, just like you. So what DIFFERENTIATES those who keep advancing their careers from those who don't? Lots of things. 👉 But ONE thing they do well is HUMBLE THEMSELVES to learn from those more BRILLIANT than they are. Some examples: 👉 Want to learn how to lead an HR team? -- Find out who’s already good at it & rub shoulders with them. 👉 Need to develop your presentation skills? -- Find HR leaders who already do that well & spend time with them. A big roadblock in our pursuit of success in HR is the tendency to be impressed by ourselves. 👉 However, here's my humble advice: -- Get over yourself...more often. -- Embrace humility...more often. -- Tap into the expertise of others…more often. -- And you'll find yourself succeeding...more often. "Interim Management is magical! Start-execute-end!" Ninni Skagerfält is an interim HR Director, a career choice driven by her interest in business with HR as a tool to influence, develop and improve the business. We have talked to her about her experiences of both working as an Interim Manager herself and of engaging an Executive Interim Manager when the organization has specific problems that cannot be solved internally. In her previous role as HR Director of Rexel Sverige, Ninni has used interim solutions on several occasions: "It has been for various reasons, such as when we have had to maintain, develop, and position a function during the time that a permanent recruitment was ongoing. In one of the latest cases, it took a very long time to find the right person with the right skills and then an interim solution was the obvious choice. On another occasion, we brought in an Interim Manager who, with a senior leadership, could develop a function when we needed to make a shift in the leadership. We didn't really know which way to go and with this solution were able to take our time to think while the interim led the business. Should industry specific experience for an HR Leader be a “must have”? Just heard from a former colleague who completed three interviews for a senior HR role, just to be told they really want someone with, wait for it, “manufactured food distribution” experience. I’m sure there are some nuances with “manufactured food distribution”, but I can promise an HR leader with 20+ years experience would pick them up pretty quickly. As someone who has been in hospitality, distribution and now healthcare, I can say with confidence that HR is 95% the same across these vastly different industries. The challenges are nearly identical. The differences are subtle and easily learned for a professional. Outside of some very unique competencies or situations, HR leadership is flexible and capable of excelling across different industries.
