In today's data-driven landscape, literacy in data isn't just advantageous, it's a necessity. 🌐💡 In the past, data skills were a niche asset, confined to IT departments and analyst roles. But as we stride further into the 21st century, the picture has dramatically shifted. Technological giants and startups alike now seek candidates who can not only interpret data but weave it into the very fabric of decision-making processes. Consider this: Data is the new gold, and tech companies are the modern gold rush towns. Candidates with the acumen to extract, analyse, and apply data insights stand out in a crowded job market. Why? Because whether it's improving user experience, informing strategic pivots, or sparking innovative ideas, data literacy is the common denominator for success. Yet, with the UK tech sector booming, firms are facing an acute skills gap. A 2023 report revealed that 78% of tech employers highlighted a shortage in data-savvy professionals. It's a clarion call for prospective job seekers to hone these competencies. Bolstering your data literacy can transform you from a passive candidate to a pivotal game-changer. Those who immerse themselves in data trends, take the time to understand statistical significance, and can communicate findings in a clear and compelling way will be the architects of tomorrow's tech landscape. 🔍🚀 Let's talk Data! #DataLiteracy #TechCareers #FutureOfWork

🆙 Reaching Higher Heights? The first half of 2024 at #DataSpaceEurope has been a mix of turbulence, exciting prospects, and everyday hard work. I see quiet signs that there's a demand for a new kind of data market player, as long as markets and corporate culture for data sharing mature. #FairDataEconomy is a systemic change in the data markets that began several years ago. Initiated by networks of small operators, this new thinking has matured, and various elements have aligned into a new socio-technical model, despite the slow development of the business environment. The shift towards new data management and functioning European data markets is essential, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises. I am dedicated to working according to my values with great passion. My biggest dream right now is to find and hire a great person for the #DataSpaceEurope team. So far, I only have a vision of the "ideal candidate" who can build sustainable business solutions. Preliminary "specs" include: 💓 Business acumen and ability to grasp data-related concepts 💓 Ability to handle pressure and engage in constructive argumentation 💓 Skill in articulating abstractions and transforming them into shared business practices 💓 Tolerance for uncertainty and ability to take the future one day at a time 💓 Enthusiasm for new ideas and entrepreneurial spirit, even though you won't be going it alone 🔊 MY NETWORK, PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD! Recruiting is a big deal for a small company, and support is needed. All tips are welcome. Additionally, I would greatly appreciate it if you could share what it’s like to work with me. There is no rush, as this role is still being shaped. Feel free to reach out with any questions or interest. #future #recruitment #passion #dataeconomy

Why I Believe Now Is The Best Time To Pursue A Career in Data: Demand is happening across industries, and I saw it firsthand this past weekend. My brother, who works in sales & marketing for a retail company, was telling me how his role is increasingly relying on the data team to inform their strategies. This conversation sparked the idea for this post - why now is the absolute best time to pursue a career in data! 1. Impact: You can positively impact your company or something much larger by solving real-world problems through data. 2. Salary: With a shortage of talent, businesses are willing to pay for the right people with the right skills. 3. Future-proofing career: Data is an ever-evolving field, demands and needs are rapidly growing allowing you to stay at the forefront of industries, trends, and innovation. 4. Business diversity: You aren’t siloed to a particular business or industry, almost every business is moving towards being data-driven. 5. Global opportunity: Data skills are in demand worldwide, so you could work remotely on international projects or pursue opportunities in different countries. In addition: There are more educational resources than ever before, from online courses to bootcamps. Find the path that best suits your learning style and goals. The data community is welcoming and supportive. There are tons of online forums and meetups where you can connect with mentors and fellow data enthusiasts. How we leveraged technology to hire a Principal Data Engineer in 29 days. AMP People recently helped a Health-Tech based in London secure a Principal Data Engineer. This was a critical hire, but the client's small internal team didn't have the bandwidth to conduct a thorough search. Here's how we delivered: 🔎 Deep Discovery: We started with a comprehensive discovery phase, focusing on desired outcomes rather than just buzzwords. 📈 Market Analysis: Leveraged LinkedIn Talent Insights to perform a laser-focused market analysis. 📽 Personalized Video Outreach: We chose Loom for personalised video outreach and SourceWhale for automated follow-ups. 🧠 AI Interview Notes: We recorded interview notes using Metaview, ensuring consistency and providing context to hiring managers as needed. 🤝 Continuous Feedback: Established a Slack channel with hiring managers for immediate and continuous feedback. The results speak for themselves: 115 Candidate Identified 23 Informal Chats 13 Screening Calls 8 Submissions 6 First Interviews 2 Second Interviews 1 Final Interview 1 Successful Hire First contact > Offer = 29 days If you’d like to learn more about how AMP People leverage world class technology to deliver quick and precise results for our clients, please get in touch! #HiringSuccess #RecruitmentTech #CaseStudy #DataEngineering #Recruitment

By 2050, your data will be worth £££££. Your Netflix habits could fund your retirement... Meet the people who'll help you sell it. Right now: → You create 1.7MB of data every second. → Big tech harvests it for free → They make billions from your data → You get... targeted ads 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴: 𝗝𝗼𝗯𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 (𝗮 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀) 𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝘂𝗽: 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗿 Now, imagine this. It's 2050. Your data is yours again. ✅ Your data lives with you, not in big tech's cloud ✅ You own it by default ✅ Every piece has a price tag ✅ Nothing moves without your say-so → Want £10? Share your age → Want £100? Share your blood type → Want £1000? Share your sleep patterns → Full lifestyle data: Name your price (yes, I know, these number are ridiculous! Illustrative only) The idea is data can be owned by individuals by default. Sound nice?! 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗗𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗔 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗼 → Values our digital footprint → Negotiates fair compensation → Protects our privacy → Blocks unauthorized access → Manages our data rights 𝗕𝘂𝘂𝘂𝘂𝘂𝘁𝘁𝘁𝘁𝘁: → What data should we sell? → What should stay private? → How do we protect our kids who are producing data before they can consent to it's sale or use? 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴: → By 2025, 85 million jobs will be automated → 97 million new roles will emerge → 65% of kids entering primary school today will work in job types that don't yet exist Personal Data Brokers are just the start. They already exist, but not in this way or at this scale. Imagine: what if instead of big tech controlling everything, we built a future where individuals had power over their own data? 🚨 This is just a thought exercise! I want us all to think about what sort of future we want to create and imagine positive scenarios. 🚨 REMEMBER: The most important way to prepare our kids for the future is by honing in on their human skills: the ability to critically think, reason, collaborate, create, work in teams, lead, have empathy etc. 👉 Swipe for more details on this future career! 👇 What sort of jobs do you think we'll have in the future? 🍰 Share with your network if you're interested in the future of work. ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ I'm Sophie Deen, I write about raising 21st-century kids and creative entrepreneurship.
