Beyond being an event planner & coordinator, I have mastered the skill of setting up. Here are some reasons that pushed me to take an interest in learning this skill until I turned it into a business. 1. It is important to fully understand a client’s vision. As a planner you have to be fully aligned with your client for the purpose of briefing suppliers and making sure you give client what they wanted if not more. 2. I made peace with getting my hands on the ground when time is not on our side or to alter the look & feel to match my vision. I believe that two (2) hands are better than one therefore I will help to finish quicker. 3. It is one thing to communicate something to your team and completely something else to demonstrate what you are communicating. To be blunt - the majority of people aren't attuned to//aware of the details that come together to result in a positive experience. Things like: - Lighting - Location - Time//Length - I could go forever... heck even the direction the sun is facing at a specific time of day But ultimately one of the reasons why I love events is because they are a very flexible medium to achieve some sort of goal in a creative way. Things like: - Team building - Brand awareness - Growing your email list - Relationship building with target clients or investors - Driving revenue through bar//ticket sales The real ~art~ is constructing the experience to serve a purpose.
