Throwing it back to last year's #COP28 as we wrap up #COP29, where Dana Shukirabayeya won last year's Women Climate Entrepreneurs Pitch Competition. Her startup, Forest Hero, is a "smart" platform based in Central Asia that combats deforestation and aims to reduce the world's carbon footprint. She won $300k to scale up FOREST HERO. This year, she was a speaker at CCE's Showcase and Networking Event, which took place earlier today. Other speakers were Jay Sadiq of FortyGuard, Aadith Moorthy of Boomitra, and Rei Goffer of Tomorrow.io. These speakers were able to discuss the issues their startup addresses, the challenges they have faced, and how they have overcome these challenges.

On this Women’s Entrepreneurship Day, November 19, 2024, let’s commit to a sustainable future with Tech Forest Solutions (#techforestsolutions)! Led by a determined woman entrepreneur, Director of our company INITIATIVE POUR LA DURABILITÉ, the #TechForestSolutions #project embodies the strength and vision of women in the fight for #environmental #preservation. Following the success of the first phase, which saw the production of 500,000 plants, we are now aiming even higher: to produce 1,000,000 forest and fruit trees to reforest over 20,000 hectares in 12 months. This project goes beyond reforestation; it also supports #rural_women and #farming #communities in diversifying their #income and adopting climate-friendly practices. Today, we are calling on all #stakeholders committed to #sustainable_development, #gender_equality, and the fight against #climate_change. Support an initiative led by a visionary woman and join us in creating a #sustainable_impact. Be part of this transformative journey. Together, let’s reshape the #future, one #tree at a time. What’s your “why” to take action to build a better future amid the climate crisis? When faced with a challenge so complex and large, it’s easy to lose sight of the impact our small actions and commitment can make. That’s where our “why” comes in. Our why: There’s no shortage of good ideas to help communities and our world be more resilient. But ideas can fade like sparks if they can’t access the resources needed to grow. At Village Capital, we empower founders who draw on their lived experiences to drive innovative solutions. The women of Greentech Europe illustrate this commitment – each motivated by personal and collective missions to create a sustainable future. Throughout history, we’ve seen how grassroots movements and action can shape systemic change. That’s why we’re committed to supporting as many early-stage startups around the world as possible that solve major environmental, social, and economic challenges. Join our community of dedicated donors and activists who believe in the power of sustainable innovation, and drop your “why” in the comments. Together, we can amplify the impact of innovative solutions to climate change. https://lnkd.in/ej_Yfy5Q #climateinnovation #climatetech #climateweek #impinv #techforgood

Many startups with remarkable solutions fail because they don’t have access to critical social and financial support. Many first-time founders and founders who bring lived experience or are close to the challenges they’re solving don’t come from privileged backgrounds or start their founder journey with doors open to them. We provide critical support like frameworks that help them see their business from an investor’s perspective, tools to explore funding options outside of venture capital, and the conditions to give and receive feedback from their peers. Consider supporting our work here: https://lnkd.in/g5hT4YtK

I hesitated to post about The Radical Fund's participation at #NewYorkClimateWeek 2024 and #UNGA. There are already so many meaningful, comprehensive and thoughtful accounts of the dialogues of 6,500+ global stakeholders across 1000+ events that happened that week. Since coming back to Southeast Asia, I have realised that what is even more valuable than taking part in the week itself, is what happens after it. The actions, commitments, alliances, collaborations (and yes - more dialogues!) that emerge across the world are, in my view, ever more helpful than any COP. Top 3 actions we are taking on, as a direct result of NYCW 2024: 1️⃣ Increasing the participation of #SoutheastAsia in #NYCW2025. We have made a commitment to partner with one of SEA's leading Agri stakeholders to do this together. It was disappointing to not have had more Southeast Asian climate visionaries in New York this year. C'mon SEA! 2️⃣ Inspired by Serena O.'s Fin-Erth dinners and Sophie Purdom's #FemaleFounders & Funders event in NY, we are developing something similar for SEA for #women in VC. Reach out if you're interested in partnering on this. 3️⃣ Closing the gap between early-stage and later-stage VC. Learning from TPG Rise folks, we are on a mission to solve the #climatefinancing gap for climate ventures in SEA. If you're a key player in, or have been working on #blendedfinance, #venturedebt or similar innovative instruments - we'd love to collaborate with you. Are you in Southeast Asia and attended NYCW2024? Would love to hear your thoughts on the above. #unlockingsolutions #climatemitigation #climateadaptation #collaboration

🌍 Tomorrow, I have the exciting opportunity to speak with a Mexican-Chilean group of #women about Greentech in Germany and NRW! As part of the Kompetenznetzwerk Umweltwirtschaft.NRW, I will share some new stats on NRW's green economy in an event organised by the trAIDe GmbH. But what excites me the most is our discussion on opportunities for women* in Greentech. Despite programs like the EEN2EIC or NRW's NRW Gründerstipendium, women* still represent a minority in leadership positions - especially in tech sectors. Globally, women*-led greentech startups receive only a small percentage of venture capital funding, even though they often outperform on revenue generation! 📊 I'm eager to learn from the group's experiences and would love to learn from you: What challenges and successes have you encountered in the green economy? 👇 Share your thoughts in the comments! #GreenTech #WomenInLeadership #Sustainability #NRW #CircularEconomy #GenderEquality #ClimateAction
