📢 New recommendations to support Project Managers and steer success in #MarieSkłodowskaCurieActions (MSCA) projects! Project Managers are the backbone of collaborative #MSCA projects. They ensure seamless coordination and execution and directly influence each project's success. "Good things come to those who wait." It may have taken longer than we had hoped, but I am very excited to finally see the outcomes published! As one of the co-organizers of the workshop that laid the foundation for this important report, it is rewarding to witness the impact of our collective efforts in bringing together key MSCA stakeholders—such as the MSCA units from the European Commission and European Research Executive Agency (REA), #NCPs, #researchers, and #projectmanagers. 🤝 The report highlights the essential role of Project Managers in Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) projects. They are the key to ensuring project success and impact. Notably, many of the concerns and recommendations raised extend beyond MSCA and can be generalized to the broader research management community. There are clear connections to initiatives like ERA Action 17, which should be further explored to maximize their potential. 🌍 I hope the insights from the "Toledo Report" will serve as a reference for the challenges and recommendations related to project and research managers, not just for MSCA, but also for capacity building in general and the development of future framework programs. Tonight, I had the pleasure of attending an informative meeting hosted by the Association for Project Management (APM). As always, the event proved to be a valuable learning experience, filled with insightful presentations and opportunities to connect with fellow professionals. The evening kicked off with a talk by Vithika Bala Giri, an international student who has risen to become a successful project manager within a corporate setting. Vithika's presentation resonated deeply, as she openly discussed the challenges of imposter syndrome. Vithika emphasized the importance of acknowledging mistakes, not as failures, but as a natural part of the learning process. This self-awareness is a sign of growth and a confirmation that you're on the right track, not simply coasting on luck. Following Vithika's inspiring talk, Lewis Gray shifted the focus to sustainability. Lewis provided a clear definition, describing it as meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own. As someone passionate about environmental issues, I was particularly heartened to learn about the various sustainability initiatives companies are implementing. These included promoting healthy meals for contractors, adopting clean energy production methods, and utilizing electric forklifts. nick corbett, concluded the night with a stimulating discussion on carbon incentives and national carbon footprint reduction strategies. He acknowledged the limitations of solely relying on renewable energy sources like solar and wind due to external factors that can impact their efficiency. Which is an exciting opportunity for further innovation within the energy industry. ⭐ Overall, the APM meeting was a resounding success. It provided a comprehensive range of information across project management and sustainability topics. Beyond the valuable presentations, the event fostered a welcoming atmosphere for networking with like-minded professionals.
