Do you ever think about safety and what we are trying to accomplish? Really, do you ever step back and look at what you are doing and if its really working or not? Its so easy to get caught up in the day-to-day battles and distractions. This time of year its even worse. Christmas parties, year end reports, planning for next year, the list goes on. Sometimes you need to take a break from the chaos and talk about something else. Safety Professionals can get complacent too. Don't assume that because no injuries or incidents are being reported that everything is ok. Its probably not! There is no cruise control in this business. We have to stay proactive and we have to keep making moves to improve safety. Get out in the field. The battle isn't won behind the desk or in meetings. When was the last time you stepped away from your desk and just went out and talked to people. Not about safety, not about work, just about them, their families, their dog, food or whatever. Its helps, it makes a difference for you and them. Show them you care, build relationships and be there for them. #safety #safetyleadership #1819 #showthemwecare #brotherskeeper

Construction and Engineering is one the most dangerous industries of all, so it's good to hear RES pointing this out to us all as a priority.
We firmly believe safety is everyone's responsibility. At RES, “get home safe” is our first priority. Every year the entire RES cohort stands down for safety and dedicates a day to our Safety Focus Event. Each of our 23 countries has speakers, workshops and presentations that focus on embracing safety and wellbeing wherever we work. Since starting our Safety Focus Events, our safety performance has improved across the board year on year. As we strive for industry-leading safety standards, this day holds immense significance for all of us at RES. For 2024, our global, business unit and regional messages given throughout the day have all connected to deliver the single unifying message, and this year’s theme: “Speak up!” Our aim is to create a culture of Psychological Safety, to make sure everyone feels empowered to speak up and challenge unsafe practices so that we all make it home safely every day – wherever home may be. #PowerforGood #GetHomeSafe #SpeakUp #SafetyFirst

When the skies turn grey and the weather warnings are red, it's important to remember that no job is more important than your safety. With the heavy rain, strong winds, and typhoon signals in the area, I want to remind everyone, especially our dedicated commuters who rely on buses, trains, and tricycles, to prioritize your well-being. Your health, safety, and life come first. If conditions make it unsafe to travel, please work from home if you have the means to do so. Your safety matters more than anything else. To the managers and leaders— this is the time to be human. Be understanding and flexible. Allow your teams to work from home in these conditions. Let’s show empathy and take care of one another during times like these. Stay safe, everyone! ☔️⛈️

Today, as we mark Global Safety Day, I can't help but think about a moment that truly drove home the importance of safety for me. In 2016, I had an experience that forever changed how I view safety. It was a car accident, one that had a serious impact and could have ended even worse. It reminded me that life can change in an instant, and that we owe it to ourselves and those we love to be careful, to stay aware, and to never take safety for granted. The aftermath was a powerful lesson in resilience, reflection, and the importance of support from those around us. For me, safety isn't just about protocols or checklists, it's about people. It's about the conversations we have, the small moments where we remind each other to be careful, and the genuine care we show to make sure every single one of us goes back home safe. It's about my teammates, my friends, and my family. It’s about the laughter at the end of the day, knowing we all made it through together. This year's theme really hits home for me because it’s a reminder that our growth and success mean nothing if we aren't taking care of each other along the way. Whether we’re at work, on the road, or even at home, I believe in staying vigilant for ourselves and for those around us. Stay safe, everyone. #GlobalSafetyDay #SafetyFirst #maersk A.P.
