What does the #EdTech evidence ecosystem look like? How do different types of evaluation practice interact, and are there sustainable practices to explore? The recent Edtech Summit was a milestone for me - it was the first time I had shared a presentation platform and opportunity with a colleague. Mr. Seth Lim and I delivered a joint session on using Generative AI technology effectively in the English classroom. As teachers, we are always seeking new ways to engage our students and enhance their learning experiences. More often than not, this journey of discovery happens in isolation within the four walls of our respective classrooms. By co-presenting with Seth, we were able to pool our knowledge, blend our perspectives, and create a richer, more multidimensional learning experience for the conference attendees. Beyond just the content we delivered, I believe there is immense value in sharing platforms and opportunities like this among colleagues. Too often, we can get caught up in our own insular worlds as educators. By actively creating space to collaborate and co-present, we open up channels for creativity, cross-pollination of ideas, and professional growth that transcends what any one of us could achieve alone. For me, the experience was incredibly enriching. I was able to learn from Seth's expertise and pedagogical approaches. Preparing the joint session pushed me to consider new angles and clarify my thinking. And there is nothing quite like the energizing dynamic of bouncing ideas off of an equally passionate peer in real-time in front of an audience. Perhaps most importantly though, this experience reaffirmed my belief that as educators, we are at our best when we pay it forward and create opportunities for others to learn and grow alongside us. I came away from this experience with a renewed conviction about the power of collectivism and collaboration in the education world. My role is not just to impart knowledge to my students, but to foster a cycle of constant learning, sharing and elevation among my fellow educators as well. I'm grateful I had the chance to embody that mindset at the Edtech Summit, and I look forward to creating more opportunities to share platforms and learn from my peers.
