#Post05 #Procurement Continuing from #Post01, #Post02, #Post03, and #Post04, let’s delve into the Develop and Construct (D&C) Procurement Route. As mentioned in #Post04, the Design and Build (D&B) procurement route is suitable for simpler projects where high quality isn’t a critical factor. But what if you need to ensure high quality for a complex project? This is where the Develop and Construct (D&C) procurement route comes into play. What is the Develop and Construct Route? The D&C route builds upon the D&B model, retaining its advantages while offering additional flexibility and control. 🌟Advantages of D&C: 1️⃣ Time and Cost Certainty: Like D&B, D&C provides clear estimates before construction begins. 2️⃣ Single-Point Responsibility: The contractor handles both design and construction, reducing employer coordination efforts. 3️⃣ Improved Communication: Collaboration between design and construction teams facilitates faster project delivery. 4️⃣ Minimized Buildability Issues: The seamless integration of design and construction phases improves project outcomes. 5️⃣ Enhanced Employer Control: Unlike D&B, D&C requires tenderers to base their proposals on more detailed designs, giving the employer greater influence over the project’s design quality. 6️⃣ Faster Tender Evaluation: The detailed design provided at the tender stage reduces ambiguities, speeding up the evaluation process. 7️⃣ Applicability to High-Quality or Complex Projects: By offering more design detail upfront, D&C is well-suited for complex or high-quality projects, making it a viable alternative to traditional D&B. ☀️ Key Takeaway: Understanding the nuances of different procurement routes, helps in selecting the best approach for your project’s needs. In the next post, we’ll explore alternative procurement methods and their specific applications. Stay tuned! #Ahmed_Okbi

One of the hardest things to do if you are a procurement contractor is setting your day rate. Here is why it is the most important: 💥 You are taking on more risk than if you were an FTE💥 It is not uncommon to hear the following at the end of your contract, while you are looking for a new gig: 👉 Things have gone quiet; we are not sure what is happening. 👉 I'm waiting on the purchase order to be approved. 👉 The business has put that role on hold. 👉 Sorry, the budget hasn’t been approved. 👉 The business has decided to fill that role as an FTE. 👉 We only want to extend for a month. Yes it is annoying however there is no point crying in your soup over it. The only thing you can do is budget for a few weeks off in between contracts and build that into your day rate. Contractors attract a higher daily rate; however, they bear more of the risk and need to manage that risk carefully. The period between contracts is stressful, and this is a reason why contracting is not for everyone. ================================================= 📌 I'm a procurement contractor. Give me a call or book an appointment using the link above to discuss how I can help your business in FY25. =================================================

#Post04 #Procurement Continuing from #Post01, #Post02, and #Post03, let’s dive into the Design and Build Procurement Route. This method, like the Traditional Procurement Route, is commonly used in KSA for its familiarity and ability to deliver time and cost certainty. 🌟 Conditions for Using Design and Build Procurement Route: 🌟 This approach is most suitable when: - 1- Time is of the Essence: Ideal for fast-tracking projects. 2- Simplicity: Best for straightforward, uncomplicated projects. 3- Certainty: Clear time and cost goals are essential. 4- Single-Point Responsibility: The contractor assumes responsibility for both design and construction. 🚀 Advantages of Design and Build Procurement Route:- 1- Time and Cost Certainty: Clear estimates established before construction begins. 2- Single-Point Responsibility: Reduces employer coordination efforts. 3- Improved Communication: Collaboration between the design and construction teams accelerates project delivery. 4- Minimized Buildability Issues: Seamless integration of design and construction phases. 🛑 Disadvantages of Design and Build Procurement Route:- 1- High Contractor Risk: Contractors bear the risk of design and construction errors, often inflating costs due to risk premiums. 2- Time-Intensive Tendering: Tender evaluations are lengthy and resource-intensive. 3- Inflexibility: Major changes during execution are difficult to implement. 4- Limited Employer Control: Reduced influence over design decisions may lead to dissatisfaction. 5- Unsuitable for Complex Projects: The approach struggles with intricate or highly specialized projects. ☀️ Key Takeaway: Understanding the pros and cons of each procurement route is crucial for selecting the optimal approach for your project. In the next post, we’ll explore alternative procurement methods and their applications. Stay tuned! #Ahmed_Okbi
