Mental Health matters, and is amazing to see how much work people put in to de-stigmatizing it. It’s important to know that it’s okay to not be okay. It’s okay to feel and hurt. It’s not okay to completely isolate and think you’re alone, because you’re not. Reach out if you need help. Reach out if you’re scared. Reach out if you’re overwhelmed. Everyone struggles, you’re not alone. As a friend, family member, co-worker, etc. it’s important to recognize signs and body language. Check in, be present, JUST BE THERE. You might not be changing the world, but at that Moment you could be changing that one person’s world, which is just as important. Stay kind everyone.

Mental health is more important in this day and age than ever before. Not only is it more openly discussed, researched and debated, it is encouraged for good reason. It is also still heavily misunderstood and stigmatized. Masking has been the main tool for many of us who deal with mental and emotional health disorders and disease. We hide to protect ourselves from those who refuse to give space to what they can’t understand. So remember, that mask can be a smile or a frown or just a blank stare. Ask someone how they’re doing. Listen and give them a space to exist safely. Don’t dismiss their problems because you can’t see them or understand them. Take care of yourself. Help others take care of themselves. Call the number if you need it. We matter. You matter. Mental health is health and it deserves healthcare. It deserves more than just a day. It deserves space. #mentalhealthawareness #worldmentalhealthday #ptsdawareness #audhd
