Today, the American Association of Municipal Executives reached 300 founding members and is already cruising towards 400. On Monday, we had hit 200 members. Founders are excited and can't wait to get started building this organization. AAME members want to be connected. They want to contribute to something that is greater than themselves. Yesterday, we represented Redwood Scientific Communications at the "Veteran Success: Honoring Service and Empowering Business Growth" event hosted by the City of Oceanside, in collaboration with the San Diego & Imperial Valley SBDC Network and the San Diego County Regional Airport. Although we're not a veterans, we may work with veteran success in civilian life. Key Takeaways: Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC): The VBOC provides counseling, training, and technical assistance for entrepreneurs who are veterans or veteran family members. It's a good starting point, as staff there can help veteran entrepreneurs find the best path through the many available resources. Government Contracts: with certification and verified capabilities, veteran-owned businesses may benefit from programs prioritizing veteran-owned enterprises Networking: Building strong relationships with other veteran entrepreneurs, small business resource partners, and industry professionals, including at SBDC events, can open doors to new opportunities and collaborations.
