An area the size of Europe will need to be covered with renewable power to reach a clean energy future, if balancing power technologies are not integrated. That's what the experts might call a "f-ton" of wind, solar and hydro to be built, especially if you ask from the people who are worried about windmills ruining their backyard view. This and other insights were revealed in Wärtsilä's new global power system modelling released recently. The report "Crossroads to net zero" takes a look at what we need to do to achieve net zero by 2050. The modelling shows that by including balancing power plants in power systems around the world, we could save €65 trillion by 2050, compared to a system built on renewables and energy storage alone. #SustainabilityTerms Renewable energy is derived from natural sources, like water, the wind and the sun, which replenish at a faster rate than they are consumed. In contrast, non-renewable fossil fuels are a finite source. In 2022/23, Ambu’s share of renewable energy was 18.5%, and we will continue to expand on our renewable energy usage.

The hype v the reality! Renewable Energy uptake has still got a long way to go. How will this graph look in 12 months and how does it get changed? 3 areas of focus: 1) Energy efficiency - using less energy to perform the same task or produce the same result. 2) Electrification or fuel switching - replacing fossil fuels used in technologies and processes with less costly and/or less emissions-intensive fuels, like renewable electricity or biofuel. 3) Demand flexibility - vary discretionary consumer demand for electricity in response to market signals, to lower bills and help optimise system infrastructure and renewables. This can include using new technologies like batteries to better balance demand with renewable supply. #energy #renewableenergy #sustainability #ev #evehicle #evcharging #solar #battery #energystorage #solarbattery

According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), renewables will surpass coal to become the largest source of electricity generation in 2025. Renewable energy sources will account for over 42% of global electricity generation in 2028. But we still have a long way to go. G20 countries account for almost 90% of global renewable power capacity today, meaning that the communities most impacted by climate change – and the most in need of reliable electricity – are not benefitting from these innovative technologies. Connect with us, and let’s discuss how to make this vision a reality together. #RenewableEnergy #Sustainability #CleanEnergy #EnergyTransition #ClimateAction #NetZero

The next step towards the net zero energy systems of tomorrow! Deploying sustainable fuels to power our energy systems is the final milestone on the journey towards decarbonisation. The deployment of renewables around the world is set to double by the end of this decade, creating the right conditions for excess clean electricity to be used for hydrogen-based, carbon-neutral fuels. Because of the intermittent nature of renewable energy sources like wind and solar power, they need to be balanced by flexible power-generation solutions. We are helping our customers in the energy sector to decarbonise by providing future-proof balancing solutions which are ready to run on sustainable fuels such as green hydrogen.
