These approved projects, predominantly sourced from China, signify a significant milestone in Johor's investment landscape. The influx of diverse investments from China has already begun to demonstrate positive impacts, contributing to growth and supporting the initiatives for the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) and a Special Financial Zone in Forest City. As China emerges as a key economic powerhouse and a major source of investment for Johor and Malaysia, the economic benefits and spillover effects from these investments are viewed as pivotal drivers for progress and economic growth in the region. While the focus on Chinese investments is notable, the Johor State Government remains committed to attracting investments from various sectors and countries that align with the state's development objectives. This inclusive approach aims to not only benefit economic entrepreneurs but also contribute to the prosperity and well-being of the residents of Johor. Recent developments showcase the state's appeal to diverse industries, with companies like Ray Tech (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd., a manufacturer and installer of X-ray machines, expressing interest and commencing operations in the SILC Gelang Patah Industrial Area. This underscores Johor's attractiveness to a range of industries and its dedication to fostering growth and innovation. Investments in Johor continue to target key sectors such as the chemical industry, petrochemicals, aerospace, digital economy, electronics, pharmaceuticals, and healthcare, signaling a strategic focus on sustainable and high-growth industries. As Johor progresses with its approved investment projects, establishing and nurturing strong partnerships with regional countries will be crucial in advancing the economy, promoting sustainability, building resilience, and fostering progress that benefits Johor and its people. #InvestJohor #MajuJohor #Johor #Investment #MajuJohor2030 #JSSEZ

Recent official visits to various regional countries, particularly China, demonstrate the State Government's commitment to ensuring the success of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone, mirroring the achievements of the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Special Economic Zone. With Johor being a strategically positioned and thriving location, it comes as no surprise that the region has seen RM113.7 billion in approved investments for 2022-2023. It was a refreshing experience to engage with the younger leaders of the Johor Civil Service (JCS). Seeing a new generation of talented individuals at the helm of state administration fills me with a sense of optimism. Johor, with its strategic location and diverse economy, has the potential to become a digital powerhouse. However, to realize this vision, we need a dedicated and focused approach. Resuscitating Digital Johor is a crucial step in this direction. This dedicated agency can play a pivotal role in driving digital transformation, fostering innovation, and attracting tech talent to the state. By working closely with federal agencies like MDEC, Digital Johor can leverage resources and expertise to accelerate the implementation of digital initiatives. Together, we can create a thriving digital ecosystem that benefits businesses, citizens, and the overall economy. I'm optimistic about the future of Johor. With the right leadership, strategic partnerships, and a focus on digital innovation, we can unlock the state's full potential and position it as a leading digital hub in Malaysia. Met Hendi Gandasmiri of Hendi Gandasmiri Lawyers in Jakarta, on 28.12.24, together with my old friend. it was the case of mixing business with leasure in Jakarta. I was wearing Malaysian batik whilst both of them donned the Indonesian batik. We invariably talked about our respective firms’ growth strategy and on how Hendi Gandasmiri Lawyers needed to position themselves to prepare for the growth in the Indonesia market, as Indonesia prepares to grow her economy into higher global ranking. Trade and investment between Malaysia and Indonesia is growing. Between 2017-2022, Malaysia’s investment into Indonesia reached USD10.1B positioning Malaysia as the 7th largest investor in Indonesia. Conversely, Indonesia’s Pertamina has oil & gas block in Malaysia, Bank Muamalat Indonesia has a presence in Kuala Lumpur whilst Batik Air (a part of Lion’s Air) flies Malaysian flag and uses Malaysia as its base. And we hope to see more Indonesian companies investing in Malaysia. And we also hope that the trade and investment between the 2 nations will grow bigger and bigger. #Crossborderinvestment #Malaysia #Indonesia.
