Have you read our blog? ‘Labour’s Landslide: What the new government means for charities and non-profits’. It goes through some of the policies and promises that could impact charities. “It's been reported that 242 MPs in the Labour government have experience in the charity sector, ranging from employees, volunteers and fundraisers. There are also eight members of the cabinet that have worked in charities as opposed to the Conservative government’s cabinet of which only two members had worked in charities, according to an article by Pro Bono Economics.” Read more on our website. #thecharityspark #labourgovernment #charityimpact #newgovernment

The increasing pressures on local authorities, health services, and other public sector budgets have heightened the demand for the essential support provided by the charity sector. While this highlights the critical role of charities, it has also intensified the competition between smaller and larger charitable organisations for local contracts. Gary Beharrell, Lloyds Bank Foundation’s regional manager, delves deeper into this issue and explores how larger charities winning local contracts could cause small charities to close. Click the link below to read how commissioners could improve the process for local contracts and create equal opportunities for all charities. https://lnkd.in/e-ZCF7zR #Notforprofit #charitypressures #localcontracts #WeAreMerrifield

National generic legacy campaigns are great. I admire the work of #Rememberacharity #includeacharity #willpower etc and numerous others throughout Europe. But they should not adopt the position of THE agent for change. I admire the individual commitment of other charities to independently promote legacy giving on their own. And often the legacy marketing budgets of the largest charities exceed those of a national generic campaign. These charities might be affecting greater change.. In the U.K. 30 years ago 1700 charities received legacies annually. It is now 10,000 I relish the growing participation in new, niche markets believing in their future thanks to gifts in Wills. It is time to celebrate the efforts of all charities when they spark and sustain interest in legacy giving.

Charities - the set and forget myth No doubt all persons responsible for charities (board, management etc) are aware that there is an ongoing obligation to review the governance and operations of the charity to ensure it remains eligible to be registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission. For those that need a refresher or are looking for a way to document this, the ACNC has a self evaluation form that can be completed and signed by the board. It's a good way to meet your obligations... but ultimately ensuring all responsible people are invested and across the activities of the charity is an even better outcome. Build this process into your year end and make it a habit #charities #philanthropy https://lnkd.in/gEPU-guB
