Buzz kill post alert! Tomorrow is Black Friday, followed by Cyber Monday - a.k.a. shopping frenzy days . And yes, there are great deals to be had, but at what cost? We’ve been conditioned to believe that happiness comes from newer, better, more—more stuff, more food, and bigger homes to hold it all. But this endless chase for more is impacting our health AND the health of our planet. This constant striving, fueled by messages telling us we’re never enough or don’t have enough, is exhausting! It creates stress, guilt, and a sense of emptiness that more stuff won't fill. Consider this: ● Products are designed with obsolescence in mind, so we buy again. ● "Best before" dates on food labels have become "Must consume by" dates, and perfectly good food is tossed away. ● Excessive consumption is driving overproduction, leading to overflowing landfills and environmental harm. I recently watched "Buy Now: The Shopping Conspiracy" on Netflix, and it was a stark reminder of the damage caused by our “more is more” culture. The visuals of unused items and waste were staggering. It's time for a rethink! ● Pause before you buy. Ask, “Do I really need this? Will it truly bring value to my life?" ● Celebrate gratitude. Reflect on the abundance you already have - because what you have is more than many people can even dream of! ● Protect your mental health. Let go of the pressure to keep up with endless trends and consumer demands. ● Shop secondhand. Before buying new, check with resellers or thrift stores—you might find what you’re looking for while giving an item a second life. ● Embrace sustainability. Support quality over quantity and make mindful choices that honor our planet’s future. ● Look for activities, people, experiences that bring joy, real joy - not the fleeting high that comes with finding a "steal of a deal". Life is about connection, gratitude, and joy — not the size of our gift pile, the number of shoes in our closet or how new our latest gadget is. Focus on what truly fills you up, rather than what fills your carts. Or at least that's what I think? What about you? #sustainabilitycoach #womenswellness #sustainablehealth #focusongratitude #gratitude

As a mom of two, managing time while living with the chronic, silent pains of autoimmune disease can sometimes be a real challenge. Weekends are my time to try to make the most of it, despite the tough days. This past weekend, I decided to kick off the holiday season early by decorating our Christmas tree. While it may still be bare and the gifts haven’t arrived yet, it was a special moment to start spreading holiday cheer and have the kids prepare their Santa wish lists. What I love about starting earlier than usual is that it gives me time to also build my own wish list and take full advantage of Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals. It’s all about maximizing time and making the holidays a little less stressful. How are you preparing for the holidays? Are you also taking advantage of Black Friday and Cyber Monday to plan ahead and grab some great deals? Let me know! #HolidayPrep #MomLife #BlackFriday #CyberMonday

A Holiday Reminder... I happened to be at the supermarket last Friday. The place was super hectic and I found myself wondering, "What is going on?!" Then it hit me… It was Black Friday! 😅 It seems like the entire world now celebrates Black Friday. And businesses are only going to get busier from here until the new year. For customer-facing staff, that means longer hours, more stress, and a lot of, "I just want to tear someone apart" moments. And during this time, customers are bound to get irate, impatient, and even, dare I say, irritating. But, what happens when you’re the one facing those customers? How do you cope with the stress? How do you get off this season in one piece! 😄 Here are a few tools. Tools to help you thrive when the pressures on: 1️⃣ Focus on what you can control. You can’t control the mood of the customer or how the situation unfolds. No you can't. Accept it. But remember, you can control one thing - Your attitude. 2️⃣ Step into the power of curiosity and empathy. Listen, really listen. (And breathe!) Listen and try to understand where the customer is coming from and do so with a lot of child like curiosity. As you respond, do so with empathy. Find common ground using phrases like, "I'd be upset too" to help the customer feel heard and avoid unnecessary conflicts. 3️⃣ Nothing in this world is worth your blood pressure. Your mental health is far too precious. People often feel the need to “win” arguments or control others, especially when they’re under pressure. But the truth is, letting it go can be very freeing. Whatever it is, tell yourself, "It's never the serious". And P.S: If you’re dealing with customer-facing staff during this busy season, please be kind. They are tired. Don’t let their smile fool you. All in all, they are doing their best... 🙏 PPS: Let's all support each other through the holiday rush! It will soon be over... PPS: I've got a WhatsApp group where I'll be sharing tips to help you get through the holiday season (and even enjoy the mad rush 😄). Interested? 96 days to go. Until Christmas. Which is zero time in merchandise world. Well, zero time if you work with an average merchandise agency! (We can magic things up in record time). But, as we all know, during the festive season in particular, its the thought that counts (or that's what I have to say to myself when I open presents from the family). So let me ask. If you're a brand owner, have you thought about it yet? How you'll make the most of the silly season? Black Friday. Cyber Monday. (A new festive range of merchandise for all your brand fans perhaps?). Will you spread goodwill with your customers and staff (gift bags maybe?). Will you say a big thank you to loyal audiences for their custom (a special branded something rather than money off or a voucher for someone else's brand!)? Will you use the season for a glowup of yours (and help announce it to the world with memorable in-the-hand items recipients can proudly share)? Memories of this little ORB festive treat for a much-adored beer sparked my thinking. Make sure you don't leave your thinking until its too late!

FriYAY Musings: From Thanks to Deals & Feels It’s the day after Thanksgiving - aka Black Friday. For some, this is practically a holiday in itself. Deals to hunt. Lists to conquer. 🎁 Gifts to snag for the people we love. For me? Not so much. You’ll find me curled up on my couch, bingeing 📺Gilmore Girls (again) and sipping a soda. But here’s the thing: Black Friday has always fascinated me. Years ago, a Dutch friend asked me, “Why is the day of greed the day after the day of giving thanks?” It wasn’t meant as a dig - just genuine curiosity. And it stuck with me. Black Friday is such a cultural pivot. For some, it’s chaos; for others, it’s joy and tradition. Honestly? Both are valid. So here’s what I’m curious about: 👉 What does Black Friday mean to you? Is it all about the thrill of the deal? A time to kickstart holiday cheer? Or are you more of a “hard pass” type like me? Wherever you fall, I hope your FriYAY brings exactly what you need—whether it’s bargains, binge-watching, or just a little peace. #FriYAYFeels #BlackFridayThoughts #GenXVibes #GilmoreGirlsMarathon #JoyOverChaos

🖤 Black Friday vibes: Shopping, relaxing, and maybe a little napping 🛍️✨ Thanksgiving leftovers are in the fridge, stretchy pants are still on, and I’ve got one thing on my mind today: relaxation… and maybe snagging a deal or two. 😌 Whether you’re hitting up the sales, recovering from a food coma, or just enjoying a much-needed day off, I hope you’re soaking up this Friday however you like best. To my fellow healthcare professionals who worked through the holiday—THANK YOU for your dedication. 💙 If you’re off today, I hope you’re treating yourself to something fabulous (or at least catching up on some sleep 💤). For me? I’m planning to avoid the crowds, scroll through online deals, and maybe finally tackle my laundry pile. What about you? Are you team shop-‘til-you-drop or team stay-in-and-relax? Let’s hear it in the comments! #BlackFriday #PostThanksgivingVibes #HealthcareHeroes #RelaxationMode #ShopSmart #GratitudeSeason
