Generators and EFC Installation | NEXTDC M2 Data Centre At our NEXTDC M2 Data Centre project, we’ve taken on some incredible feats with our crane to ensure seamless installations. The complex installations of generators and EFC units required advanced engineering and precise execution, combined with innovative techniques with meticulous attention to detail. 12 massive generators, each weighing up to 40 tonnes, arrived in three parts from Germany. They were lifted with precision onto the steel gantry. These generators are vital for data centres, providing essential backup power to ensure continuous operation during outages. They safeguard the vast amounts of data and the critical operations of NEXTDC's clients. Meanwhile, our EFC (Evaporative Freecooling System) units embarked on a journey from Italy straight to our project site. These units are crucial for managing and optimising the energy distribution within the data centre, ensuring efficiency and reliability. Installing them was no small feat – they required a specialised 'swing lift' method. Unlike typical lifts, the EFCs couldn't be dropped vertically. Instead, a series of chains and winches were used to horizontally traverse the units onto the gantry.
