The Port of Baltimore is making strides towards recovery after the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse. Since the opening of a new deep-water channel on May 14th, container and RoRo vessel traffic has resumed—bringing the port one step closer to full capacity by the end of May. This reflects the need for greater resiliency in our transportation network. The additional driving time required in using these detours will result in delays and additional costs to businesses and consumers. CDOT has suggested two alternative routes for traffic — Interstate 70 and U.S. 160. Both routes add hours in travel time. The northern route is 354 miles and requires about six hours. The southern route is 331 miles and requires nearly seven hours.

Stream restoration work will begin this week at Rocky Branch Park in east Fayetteville on a tributary of Flynn Creek. The extent of the work will begin at the stream crossing, located at N. Brookbury Crossing, and extend approximately 700 feet to the eastern edge of the park boundary. The restoration of the stream channel is necessary to protect the parkland, as well as adjacent landowners’ properties, from damage associated with continued streambank erosion.
