There are moments in life when we meet truly inspirational individuals who challenge us to be better in every way. Peter Baines OAM is one of those people for me. He’s a remarkable leader with a story that will make you laugh, make you cry, and leave you with a burning desire to do more. This December, my dear friend Peter is running 1,400km over 26 days in Thailand to mark the 20th anniversary of the Boxing Day Tsunami and raise $1 million for Hands Across the Water. Pete’s mission is deeply personal. Having worked on the ground in Thailand in the aftermath of the tsunami, he’s dedicated the past two decades to helping children by providing education, opportunities, and the hope of brighter futures. The #RunToRemember isn’t just about running – it’s about creating lasting impact. The goal is to raise $1 million to fund projects that empower children and provide them with sustainable futures. From an agricultural centre producing cage-free eggs for local hotels to a hospitality training centre helping students build careers, these initiatives are all about creating opportunities that will change lives. Here’s how you can get involved: 👉 Donate – Every contribution brings us one step closer to the $1M goal, helping Hands Across the Water continue their vital work. 👉 Become a corporate sponsor – Make a difference in the lives of children and make your employees proud. 👉 Join the Run Challenge – Whether you run solo or create a corporate team, you can (virtually) run alongside Pete while reaching your own personal goals – and indulge in that Christmas pudding guilt-free! 👉 Sponsor a Kilometre – Claim one of Pete’s kilometres and you’ll be in the running for a $5,000 cash prize (NSW only). THE ERIC LIDDELL 100 TODAY is the day that we have all been waiting for, it is exactly 100 years to the day, 11th July 1924, that Eric Liddell won gold in the 400m race at the Paris Olympics, breaking the World Record in the process. Eric won this race, yet he wasn't even meant to be competing in it. Being a devoted Christian, Eric refused to run his preferred 100m race as it was taking place on a Sunday, and instead opted for the much trickier 400m race, and the rest is history. History that many may be familiar with due to the success of the Oscar-winning film, Chariots of Fire. There is no doubt that this had a massive impact on ensuring that Eric's legacy was secured, but The Eric Liddell 100 initiative was set up to make sure that Eric's story and values were passed on to everyone, including generations to come. By setting up resources relevant to all in order we aim to inspire the next generation and secure, cherish and celebrate the legacy of Eric Liddell. A massive part of being able to do this has been the generosity of everyone who has committed time, money and resources towards The Eric Liddell 100, and there is still time to help. With the Olympics coming up, and lots of work still upcoming in this, the centenary year of the 1924 Paris Olympics, The Eric Liddell 100 set up an Olympic Year Appeal which you can DONATE to now. Your donations help us continue the momentum that we have already picked up this year, and give us the opportunity to further celebrate the man that is Eric Liddell. 💥Every year there is Supertreenit Naantali where people are coming to try different types of exercise. Money raised are used for organizing chlidren sport activities. This means that nobody gets paid for their teaching, everyone is volunteering. 🤝 This year I involved two of my instructors, to be able to bring more Freestyler boards and Kangoo jumps shoes. We worked immensily: 👉 to carry all of the equipment, 👉to arrange, 👉to get the people, 👉to put everyone on the right shoes, 👉 to gather at the end all of the stuff. 🥵All of this work was just for publicity, visibility and of course to make more people trying our sports. Maybe no clients will come from this, maybe somebody who understands how great these are, will come some day and say: "Wow, I want your sports in my club too!" Who knows? 🤷♀️ You can never know what will happen if you work hard and not necessarily gain anything on the moment.💪 💫 One thing I know though now after 8 years of promoting my sports: I am worth it and I will push myself out there until someone will admit and say: "You are doing an incredible work for this society and because of you, some lives have been saved! 💚" #worthy #entrepreneurship #fitness #biggoals

Need to make a last-minute, end-of-year donation? As 2024 comes to a close, the team at the Indian River Golf Foundation (IRGF) reflects on the profound impact golf has on shaping young lives. Since 2008, IRGF has been more than just a golf foundation—it has been a launchpad for future leaders, teaching skills like leadership, discipline, and perseverance that resonate far beyond the course. From introducing kids to golf through SNAG in elementary schools to fostering excellence in the Atlantic Junior Golf Tour and LPGA*USGA Girls Golf, their mission is clear: IRGF doesn’t just create golfers—they empower tomorrow’s leaders. But here’s the thing: IRGF’s work is only as strong as the community behind it. As they gear up for 2025, IRGF is calling on businesses, individuals, and change-makers who believe in the power of sports to transform lives. By donating today, you’re not just supporting golf—you’re creating opportunities for young people to learn, grow, and lead. Here’s what your contribution can achieve: • Fund scholarships for young golfers who need a helping hand. • Expand access to training programs that build life-changing skills. • Create equitable opportunities at golf facilities for all youth in the community. Let’s end 2024 on a high note by driving real, meaningful impact. Your generosity today fuels the leaders of tomorrow. Together, let’s make 2025 extraordinary for the youth in Indian River County and beyond!
