These sentences are so wildly inconsistent for insurance industry fraud and it makes you wonder: This insurance broker gets sentenced to 18 months in prison followed by 2 years of parole/probation for stealing nearly $137,000 in sales commissions from the insurance company. But if you steal $180,000 directly from insurance customers - instead of from the insurance company itself - with 90 counts (or 90 instances of fraud/theft) and over $335,000 in restitution, then you only receive 3 years of probation with NO prison time. https://lnkd.in/ezxBrqy2 Why such a sentencing disparity depending on the victim being an insurance company vs. a customer?
