It's a Warm Wednesday Welcome to one of our returning members, Simone Musgrave.
Simone’s entrepreneurial journey started with a baby food brand, YUMNUMS, an early pioneer in organic baby food, which was later acquired by Purity. Her subsequent career spanned 13 years in the FMCG industry, setting up the groundbreaking 7th Floor Innovation Centre for Foodcorp. This work took her across the globe to scout ideas and approaches, predicting trends and product directions and a further 3 acquisitions across the FMCG corporate world. It was on one of these scouting trips and a retrenchment that led her to start her own brand and react to a global trend by launching a bespoke gin. In 2015, she launched Musgrave Gin, leveraging her family story of adventure and a passion for innovation. Within 2.5 years, Musgrave had achieved significant growth, becoming the second-largest-selling gin in South Africa and the first pink gin in Africa, disrupting the category of gin. Fast Forward to 2022, and Simone sold Musgrave Gin to Halewood. She is now consulting with luxury brands or anything that excites her, writing a book, being a keynote speaker and looking to invest in a new business.
