With more U.S. cities turning to building performance standards, property owners and operators are facing a growing pressure to meet decarbonization targets. Schneider Electric's Building Decarbonization Calculator aims to help building owners and operators calculate their carbon emissions and energy use intensity. With 500,000 building models in the mix, the tool simulates energy-saving retrofits, from light upgrades to deep renovations, to assess their emissions impact and aid compliance with building emissions laws such as New York City's Local Law 97. Mike Kazmierczak, global vice president of digital energy for Schneider Electric, takes us through the details of how the tool works: https://lnkd.in/eGKfmNHU A shoutout to Joe Koenig for sharing this development. #Decarbonization #BuildingPerformance #EnergyEfficiency #climateweek #NYC #LocalLaw97 #SchneiderElectric #Boston #BERDO

Energy Roof System is an innovative solution to transform ordinary rooftops into sustainable electricity generators. This system relies on a special structure to install solar panels in an integrated and aesthetic way, so that they become part of the roof, saving energy and enhancing the efficiency of their consumption in buildings. Components and features of the Energy Roof System Selection of solar panels: High-efficiency #solarpanels are used, specially designed to achieve the best energy generation while taking into account the architectural shape of the roof. This design helps provide maximum energy while maintaining the aesthetics of the building. Integrated units: The solar panels in this system come as an integral part of the roof, without the need for external installation frames. This feature makes the roof more integrated and smooth, which reduces installation costs. #Mountingsystems: Designed to withstand the harshest climatic conditions such as strong winds and rain. These systems help securely install the panels, ensuring the durability and continuity of the system over the long term. Edge frame: Provides additional support for the panels and helps prevent water from entering under them, reducing the possibility of problems. Built-in ventilation units: Help reduce heat build-up under the panels, improving system performance. This is important, as high temperatures can significantly reduce the efficiency of the panels. Water drainage gaps: Drainage gaps are designed to direct water away from the panels during rain, to prevent water build-up and maintain system efficiency. Connecting plugs to connect the panels: Make it easy to install the panels together flexibly and safely. #Energyroofsystem is not only an efficient option for generating electricity, it is also environmentally friendly and helps reduce dependence on traditional energy sources. Energy Roof enhances energy efficiency and is a sustainable and attractive solution, making it suitable for new buildings or renovations. Thanks to its integrated design, it saves maintenance costs and extends the life of solar panels. #solarenergysystem #energyroofsystem #solarpanels #mountingsystem #electricity #highefficiency

Ques:- How does insulation rank as a tool to reduce a building’s embodied carbon or its ability to reduce carbon emissions? Ans:- Insulation is a very effective tool for reducing a industries' embodied carbon and carbon emissions. Embodied carbon refers to the carbon emissions associated with the manufacture, transportation, and installation of building/ Plant materials, while operational carbon refers to the emissions associated with the use of energy to operate a building. Insulation can help to reduce both embodied and operational carbon by improving the energy efficiency of a system. By reducing heat loss or gain through system, insulation can help to reduce the amount of energy needed to heat, cool, and ventilate a building. This can result in lower operational carbon emissions over the lifetime of the industrial plant/ Buildings. Furthermore, insulation can be combined with other sustainable building strategies, such as passive solar design, efficient lighting and HVAC systems, and renewable energy sources like solar panels or geothermal systems, to further reduce a building’s carbon footprint. Overall, insulation can be a very effective tool for reducing system's embodied and operational carbon emissions and improving its overall sustainability. #ThermalInsulation #CarbonCapture #SystemStability

Taking Steps Toward Decarbonization +(Avoiding Fines) “Understanding how facilities use energy, especially fossil fuels, is an important place to begin identifying challenges and opportunities for decarbonization.” “Reducing the building’s energy loads typically begins with envelope improvements, optimization of building systems and controls, and ventilation upgrades. These initial efficiency improvements lower energy costs in the near-term while allowing smaller future equipment sizing for a reduced peak energy load.” Want to be in compliance with decarbonization laws and avoid hefty fines? Have a VENTILATION ASSESSMENT of your building performed. Make the necessary changes. Reduce energy consumption. Decrease carbon emissions. Significant monetary savings to follow. Avoid fines. Save on energy costs. Ask LISA about implementing this strategy in your facility! #WIN #save #reduce #decarbonization #netzero #ll97 Appa Facilities Facilities Dive Erlab USA New York, New York City
