Green roofs are crucial in mitigating urban heat islands, reducing energy consumption, managing stormwater, and improving air quality. By bringing nature back into our cities, green roofs support biodiversity and provide essential habitats for various species of birds, insects, and plants. 🌍 Green roofs transform our urban landscapes, creating green sanctuaries that promote well-being and sustainability. They reduce the environmental footprint of buildings by providing natural insulation, which lowers heating and cooling costs, and by capturing rainwater, which helps prevent flooding and relieves pressure on urban drainage systems. 🌧️ At DIADEM, we are proud to have contributed to the green roof movement for almost 30 years. International Dark Sky Week is a global celebration that encourages us to appreciate the natural night and protect it from light pollution. GROHE and Team Ocean collaborate to raise water awareness! Today is World Water Day and what a day to share a special collaboration between two parties that put water awareness and responsible usage at the forefront of their mission. We are proud to announce that GROHE Netherlands BV is Team Ocean’s Title Sponsor, and at the same time unveiling our boat wrap design (with credits to Peter Kortleve @Shortlife). GROHE, a known brand for complete bathroom solutions and kitchen fittings, are committed to water stewardship. We are excited about the collaboration as it’s more than a sponsorship; it's a shared mission to raise 'Aquawareness' – encouraging responsible water usage and sustainable practices. Already more than 40% of the world’s population live in water-stressed areas, and water demand is expected to rise 55% over the next 30 years (source: OECD). In fact every day should be World Water Day. To champion the mission we are undertaking not just one expedition, but two. And that under the new expedition name of GROHE Team Ocean. This July, we will embark on our European expedition, rowing from the Rhine’s water source in the Swiss mountains, through the Rhone towards the North Sea. The rapid loss of 10% of water volume in Swiss glaciers over the last two years underscores the urgency of the mission. (source: world economic forum). And in 2025, we will row 4,500 km from California to Hawaii non-stop and totally independently. During this expedition we will be a “living lab” to highlight the need for self-sufficiency in water use. During the 6-8-week crossing, we will make our own drinking water from the sea and live on less than 8 litres of water per person per day.
