In the current ESG context in which the application of environmental regulations is more critical than ever, I am proud to share an article written by my daughter, Leonor Oliveira Neves, as part of her Master's in Law and Economics of the Sea, which has been selected for publication in the NOVA Green Lab. Under the theme "AquaPri (2023): Conservation of natural habitats and wild fauna and flora (Natura 2000 Network) and fish farming activity", this essay analyses the challenges faced by national authorities in implementing Article 6 of the Habitats Directive, focusing on an emblematic case involving AquaPri's fish farm in Småland Bay. This decision underscores the complex regulatory environment that such projects navigate. While the court's ruling enables continued operation, it emphasizes the need for stringent environmental oversight and compliance. Challenges in Utah: In the U.S., Enefit faced substantial regulatory challenges that ultimately led to the abandonment of its project in Utah.
