Last month our Head of Operations Wiktor Wiszorowski had the opportunity to serve as a speaker at a conference organized by the Polish Academy of Sciences (Polska Akademia Nauk). This event was part of the 5th edition of the Energy Forum of Science and Economy.⚡️ Wiktor represented Green Capital in a panel discussion dedicated to the topic: "Technology Diversification and Energy Security." The conference aimed to discuss the future of the energy market, with particular emphasis on the need for technology diversification and ensuring security for energy consumers. 🌐We strive to define new development directions for the sector that will address contemporary challenges, including environmental protection, consumer protection, and competition. The conference was held under the patronage of the Minister of Industry, the President of the Energy Regulatory Office, the President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection, and the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management. #Energy #Technology #EnergySecurity #GreenCapital #SustainableFuture #GreenInnovation

In the current ESG context in which the application of environmental regulations is more critical than ever, I am proud to share an article written by my daughter, Leonor Oliveira Neves, as part of her Master's in Law and Economics of the Sea, which has been selected for publication in the NOVA Green Lab. Under the theme "AquaPri (2023): Conservation of natural habitats and wild fauna and flora (Natura 2000 Network) and fish farming activity", this essay analyses the challenges faced by national authorities in implementing Article 6 of the Habitats Directive, focusing on an emblematic case involving AquaPri's fish farm in Småland Bay. Dive into the full essay to understand how solid legal frameworks can promote sustainability and protect our planet for future generations. #Sustainability #EnvironmentalLaw #Biodiversity #CJEU #FishFarming #Natura2000 #LegalAnalysis
📢 New Publication Alert! 🌿 This analysis of the AquaPri judgment by Leonor Oliveira Neves delves into the implications of the judgment concerning breaches under Article 6(3) of the Habitats Directive. This ruling highlights the need for rigorous environmental assessments and the responsibilities of national authorities in preserving Europe’s biodiversity. Key Points: Scope of 'Project': Understanding 'project' under Article 6(3) of the Habitats Directive. State Liability: Consequences for member states in case of breaches. Assessment Validity: Relevance and sufficiency of assessments by other entities. 🔗 Read the full essay on our website! #EnvironmentalLaw #HabitatsDirective #Biodiversity #FishFarming #CJEU #Sustainability #NOVAResearch #GreenLab https://lnkd.in/dzmmeBrg

🌍 Innovative Energy Solutions and Their Global Implications 🌍 Exploring new technological frontiers in energy and waste management presents both exciting opportunities and significant challenges. Recently, Enefit, an Estonian company specializing in oil shale processing, has been at the center of global discussions on this topic. 🔍 Environmental and Legal Context: Enefit's Legal Battle in Estonia: An Estonian court has allowed Enefit to continue its operations during an ongoing legal dispute. This decision underscores the complex regulatory environment that such projects navigate. While the court's ruling enables continued operation, it emphasizes the need for stringent environmental oversight and compliance. Challenges in Utah: In the U.S., Enefit faced substantial regulatory challenges that ultimately led to the abandonment of its project in Utah. The difficulties in meeting environmental standards highlight the broader issues of sustainability and regulatory compliance that accompany such ambitious technological endeavors. ⚖️ Global and Local Implications: Economic and Environmental Viability: The long-term sustainability of oil shale processing and similar technologies remains a subject of intense debate. Despite technological advancements, ensuring these projects are both economically viable and environmentally responsible is crucial. Lessons for Israel and Beyond: The experiences of Enefit provide valuable insights for other countries exploring similar technologies. It is essential to evaluate these initiatives within the broader context of global environmental standards and local sustainability goals. 🔧 Conclusion: Innovative approaches to energy and waste management offer significant potential but must be pursued with careful consideration of their long-term impacts. As countries like Israel continue to explore new technological solutions, aligning these efforts with sustainable and responsible practices is vital for ensuring a better future. Let’s continue the conversation on how we can innovate responsibly for a better future. 🌱💡 #Sustainability #Innovation #WasteManagement #EnergySolutions #EnvironmentalImpact #Technology
