Today, as we commemorate #WorldWaterDay, let's contemplate the sobering reality that over two billion individuals worldwide lack access to clean, safe drinking water. The water crisis experienced by Cape Town in 2018 serves as a poignant reminder of the urgent need for concerted global efforts to conserve and effectively manage our invaluable water resources. This year's theme is 'Water for Peace', which focuses on the critical role water plays in the stability and prosperity of the world. With dam levels currently resting at 70.4% in Cape Town, it falls upon each of us to acknowledge our responsibility and pledge to adopt more water-efficient practices in our daily routines. By collectively embracing this responsibility, we can contribute to a brighter future where access to clean, safe drinking water is not a privilege but a fundamental human right. Let us all play our part in realising this vision. 🔴Where it counts #greeffchristies #greeffproperties #worldwaterday #worldwaterday2024

"Spotlighting the Green Burial Council today! Their work sets the standard for green burial and environmentally sustainable deathcare practices in Canada. KORU is proud to be certified by the Green Burial Council and to offer green burial as an alternative to cremation. 🌱 One of the benefits of this burial method is that it does not release any carbon dioxide – in fact, it sequesters carbon in the soil. ⚖️ Another beautiful aspect of green burial is that it is tied to land use and conservation advocacy, supporting ongoing carbon sequestration in certified, protected natural burial sites. Learn more about the Green Burial Council and the important work they do at the link in bio." #deathcare #deathpositive #ecofriendly #womenled #local #vancouver #deathdoula #communitydeathcare #womenledbusiness #homedeath #deathpositive #smallbusinessbc #funeraldirector #localbusiness #futureoffuneral

🌊 Connecting the Dots: Water for Peace & Water Stewardship 💙 Today we'd like to reflect on how the practice of water stewardship contributes to this year's World Water Day theme: Water for Peace. At the heart of both concepts is the recognition of water as a limited and essential resource, vital for sustaining life and fostering harmony between communities. Our experience has shown that water-related issues such as scarcity, quality or impact on ecosystems, together with a lack of governance, often exacerbate conflicts, highlighting the urgent need for responsible water stewardship and collective action. By sharing information, creating spaces for dialogue, fostering partnerships and promoting the adoption of sustainable water use practices, we can not only protect our precious water resources and related ecosystems, but also reduce tensions over access to water. Water stewardship and collective action initiatives focus on collaboration among diverse stakeholders, transcending boundaries and fostering common grounds for peaceful coexistence. As individuals and organizations, let's embrace our role as water stewards and champions of peace. #WorldWaterDay #WaterForPeace #WaterStewardship #CollectiveAction

To combat littering and protect public spaces in Gambia, we urge the President as he is the chairman of NEMC to issue an executive order mandating strict enforcement of anti-littering regulations. This will ensure compliance and accountability for a cleaner environment. Reforming Anti-Littering Regulations Key reforms should include: Stricter Penalties: Implement harsher penalties for littering offenses. Increased Surveillance: Use technology and community reporting to monitor littering hotspots. Public Awareness Campaigns: Educate citizens on the importance of cleanliness and the consequences of littering. Objectives To strengthen waste management and public space protection through enforcement and community participation We propose: Enhanced Enforcement Mechanisms: Establish a task force for rigorous enforcement and regular inspections. Community Participation: Organize clean-up events and workshops to foster local ownership and pride. Improved Waste Management Systems: Invest in better waste disposal facilities and promote sustainable practices like composting. By reforming anti-littering regulations and focusing on these objectives, we can create a cleaner, healthier Gambia for future generations. #wastemanagement #gmbyouth4climate #lcoygambia2024 #climateaction
