Fish farming indeed integrates various disciplines such as marine services, fishing activities, aquaculture biotechnology, and marine environmental sciences. This multi-disciplinary approach is essential for ensuring sustainable practices in aquaculture, which plays a critical role in food security for maritime nations. 1. Marine Services: Includes infrastructure like cages, nets, and pens used in aquaculture operations, as well as transportation and logistics related to fish farming. 2. Fishing Activities: Involves knowledge of fish behavior, feeding habits, and the management of fish stocks, which are crucial for successful fish farming. 3. Aquaculture Biotechnology: Encompasses genetic improvement of fish stocks, disease management, and optimizing feed composition for better growth and health of farmed fish. 4.Marine Environmental Sciences: Focuses on understanding and mitigating the environmental impacts of fish farming, such as water quality management and ecosystem health. Fish farming is integral to food security because it provides a controlled environment for fish production, reducing pressure on wild fish stocks. This ensures a stable and predictable supply of fish, which is a vital source of protein and essential nutrients for many populations globally, especially in maritime nations dependent on marine resources. Therefore, advancements and integration across these disciplines are crucial for sustainable development and long-term viability of fish farming practices worldwide. #marineindustry #fishingboat #navalarchitecture #foodsecurity #aquaculturebiotechnology #startup

How is regenerative agriculture connected to our oceans? A report released this February by the Yale Center for Business and the Environment sheds some on the subject. The report, named “Surf to Turf: Linking Regenerative Agriculture and Restorative Aquaculture in Coastal Foodscapes”, speaks to how aquaculture and land-based agricultural operations are siloed and the opportunity to build bridges between them. This includes using seaweed as a feed supplement & soil amendment, improving ocean health through conservation ag, and how marine organisms can provide ecosystem services such as filtration for water quality improvement. Surf to Turf also contains brief case studies on farms including Ocean Hour Farm, Earth Care Farm, Montauk Seaweed Supply Co, and Yale Farm. The report found the key barriers to restorative aquaculture adoption to be Insufficient Knowledge and Training, Inadequate Infrastructure, an Underdeveloped Market, and a Strong Presence of NIMBYism (“Not In My Back Yard”). Thank you to Violet Low-Beinart and Kelly McGlinchey for putting this together! Learn more: https://lnkd.in/e-8SgF2s (https://lnkd.in/e-8SgF2s) #regenerativeagriculture #aquaculture #seaweed

Environmental Challenges in Aquaculture Aquaculture is facing significant environmental challenges that need immediate attention. One of the most pressing issues is water pollution, where excess nutrients from fish farming can contaminate water systems, harming local ecosystems. Overfishing is another concern, as many aquaculture operations still rely on wild-caught fish for feed, further depleting ocean resources. Additionally, the industry’s carbon footprint remains high due to intensive farming practices and energy use. Finally, the overuse of antibiotics in fish farming poses risks to both marine life and human health, contributing to antibiotic resistance. At EcoFeed, we believe that sustainable practices are the key to tackling these issues. Our feed products are designed to reduce the reliance on wild-caught fish, lower carbon footprints, and minimize pollution. By using plant-based and algae-derived ingredients, we’re helping to create a healthier, more sustainable future for aquaculture, while supporting the industry’s growth and reducing its environmental impact. #Sustainability #Aquaculture #EnvironmentalImpact #EcoFeed #GreenSolutions #SustainableFarming #AquacultureInnovation

This months focus: Sustainability Development Goals(SDGs ) & Our journey in Aquaculture. As dive into a new month, we are excited to share something special with you. Ahead of the launch of our #LaketoplateXperience campaign ,we are dedicating this month to exploring the sustainable development goals (SDGs) and how they shape everything we do. From providing nutritious ,sustainable food sources to protecting Lake Victoria's ecosystem and supporting our local communities, we believe in aquaculture that respects both people and the planet. Over the coming weeks, we will share insights into how our aquaculture farming practices align with the SDGs - from Zero Hunger (SDG 2) to Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12 ) and Life Below Water (SDG 14). Here is what you can expect: 1.Educational posts on the SDGS and their importance. 2.Behind -the -scenes looks at our sustainable practices. 3.Impact stories from our local partners and communities. Join us as we highlight the ways sustainable tilapia farming can make a difference and the impact we can create together! #geddofreshfish #sustainableaquaculture #sustainabledevelopmentgoals #LaketoplateXperience #tilapiatuesday #tilapia

Organigogo recently published an article that addresses the complex issues of industrialized aquaculture, overfishing, and industrial animal agriculture, and how these factors are directly linked to the increasing negative effects of climate change. And importantly, this sector impacts not only climate change but a host of other crises such as environmental degradation and human health risks. Food systems are beginning to gain traction in discussions --- the aquaculture and fishing sectors must be included in assessments and solutions, including finance and subsidies' reform of these aquatic food industries. Systems thinking can help us all realize that everything is connected; any actions to solve these complex problems must take a systems' perspective. Here is an important read to help understand industrial aquaculture and fishing. https://lnkd.in/eYMr5d3R

𝗗𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀? 🐟 Then our Blue IMPACT Aqua feed might be the solution for reaching your climate goals. 🌎 Our feed concept Blue IMPACT Aqua is developed in close cooperation with fish farmers and its main superpower is minimizing the environmental impact of aquaculture. Feeds are responsible for approximately 𝟴𝟬% of the total environmental footprint in fish farming and it is possible to reduce that number significantly. Blue IMPACT Aqua has a special focus on minimizing the environmental footprint of fish farming activities by reducing phosphorus emissions. The feed composition has a lower impact on the planet but does also provide improved feed performance through an increased digestible energy level. When you choose the Blue IMPACT Aqua diet, you are actively contributing to a more sustainable future for all of us. #bluefoods #responsiblefishfeed #biomar #fishfeed #ourbluejourney
