What sustainability practices should companies in Singapore already have in place? 🤔
As sustainability becomes essential in business, companies are expected to adopt practices that promote greener habits among employees and improve daily operations. Having worked with over 600 companies over the past six years, Green Nudge believes these are three key sustainability practices every business should implement to meet employee and consumer expectations.

Fewer firms in Singapore are adopting sustainability measures due to skills gap
The combination of “fewer” and “sustainability measures” is a bad combination of words in a sentence. In today’s world of climate change we clearly want to see more firms adopting sustainability measures.
This excellent Channel News Asia video highlights were some of the issues lie, and we can hear about the usual suspects as “where to get funding”, “where to find the right resources”.
To me the report highlights that many companies lack forward looking, strategic planning around what is needed to succeed as a company seen as a leader in sustainability in their industry.
Data driven strategic workforce planning can be a vital catalyst in this context. By stepping back and looking at developments in other companies, industries and countries, management will be able to develop a better understanding on future developments and required / evolving skill sets.
This broader view will enable (with the right tools) the planning of the shape of the future workforce: Which skills does a company need more of and which skills are less in demand. Plans can be developed how to close the gap, ideally using learning interventions and specific training to re-skill existing employees, thus limiting retrenchment and re-hiring activities.
Actively engaging in strategic workforce planning will help companies avoid being caught out by new developments, one can be “ahead of the pack” and benefit from first mover advantages, such as e.g. gaining consumer preferences by being seen as a leader in sustainability.

The importance of sustainability in companies cannot be overstated.
A recent survey on LinkedIn delved into the crucial factors for success once an organization embarks on its sustainability journey.
Conducted by Steve Ashkin with Green2Sustainable (G2S), a platform dedicated to tracking sustainability advancements in various organizations, the survey shed light on key insights.
"The survey aimed to answer the question, "Once an organization initiates its sustainability journey, what is vital for the program's success?"

How do you view sustainability in your industry?
I recently came across fascinating insights from the Chinese University of Hong Kong Business School's Centre for Business Sustainability on encouraging sustainability trends in the Asia Pacific region, including Singapore.
The findings shed light on the significant advancements made by companies in Hong Kong, Greater Bay, Greater China, and Singapore towards sustainable practices.
Compared to Hong Kong, Singapore can still do more to enhance sustainability initiatives.
It's clear that sustainability is a shared journey requiring collaboration and continuous improvement. The emphasis on going beyond legal requirements and adopting holistic sustainability strategies resonates deeply with our approach at SEEECK.
Initiatives like CUHK's Strategic Sustainability Benchmark Scheme provide valuable tools for companies to assess their sustainability performance and make informed decisions.
At SEEECK, we're committed to supporting such initiatives. Reach out to see how we can join forces for a sustainable future; click to check out my portfolio: https://bit.ly/49mHOr7#Sustainability#ClimateAction#Environment#Partnerships#ClimateChange
Our "Boards as Stewards of Sustainability" report reveals a staggering insight: 43% of Singapore respondents said their boards either never discuss sustainability or do so only once a year.
With climate change intensifying, human activity on the rise, and extreme weather events becoming more frequent, it's crucial for sustainability to take center stage in corporate discussions.
But here's the game-changer — sustainability isn't just an ethical choice; it's a business imperative.
Focusing on sustainability can lead to brand enhancement, better talent availability, access to cheaper capital, and new business opportunities. Companies like Tata Group, Unilever, and Patagonia have become talent magnets and achieved strong financial performance thanks to their sustainability-friendly image.
