Specifically, the upstream industry of the spirulina industry generally refers to the provision of raw materials through the breeding of spirulina and the harvesting of spirulina mud made of powder. Did you know that there are different types of chlorophyll? 🧩 Chlorophyll A and B are two major types of chlorophyll found in plants. The main difference between them is their wavelenght of light absortion: while chlorophyll A absorbs violet-blue and orange-red light (430 nm to 660 nm), chlorophyll B absorbs orange-red light (450 nm to 650 nm). This means that in sun-exposed crops the concentration of chlorophyll A (which is more efficient) is higher than that of chlorophyll B (less efficient). But in shaded crops, the importance of chlorophyll B becomes crucial for its ability to absorb the "remaining" wavelengths of light. 🍓 In a recent study with #strawberry plants, we examined #BotamisolPro80's impact on #chlorophyll content (both A and B), as key indicator of a plant's energy capacity. 👉 Our trial included three treatments, including a control group and a market reference aminoacid-based #biostimulant. After three foliar applications over 7 days, the results were clear: ✔ Chlorophyll A, the vital molecule for energy transfer, significantly increased in plants treated with Botamisol Pro 80, indicating an improvement in energy capture that will result in an overall improvement of plant efficiency. Unlike other aminoacid-based products, Botamisol Pro 80 contains a high glycine/glutamic ratio, which activates chlorophyll synthesis. When the crop is kept exposed to the sun, Botamisol Pro 80 activates the synthesis of chlorophyll A, improving the energy capacities of the reaction centres of the photosystems. However, the extent to which straw amendments contribute to the dynamics of #soil #alkaline #phosphomonoesterase (ALP)-#producing #bacterial #community and functionality over an extended period remains elusive. Here, we conducted a 7-year long-term field experiment consisting of a no-fertilizer control, a chemical fertilizer treatment, and three straw (straw, straw combined with manure, and straw biochar) treatments. Our results indicated that straw amendments significantly improved the succession patterns of the ALP-producing bacterial diversity. Simultaneously, straw amendments significantly increased the network stability of the ALP-producing bacteria over time, as evidenced by higher network robustness, a higher ratio of negative to positive cohesion, and lower network vulnerability. High dynamic and stability of ALP-producing bacterial community generated high ALP activity which further increased soil Phosphorus (P) availability as well as #maize #productivity. https://lnkd.in/g8DRFZ92

The genus #Gelidium holds great significance among #agarophytes since it produces agar of microbiological grade. In a recently published research article in #JAPH, critical parameters like #seedling density, #PES medium strength, and culture medium #salinity were optimized to significantly increase the growth rate of Gelidium micropterum. We could obtain a daily growth rate (#DGR) as high as 6.20 ± 0.04% when cultured under optimized conditions. Additionally, the nutritional values of the biomass from each experimental setup, including total #proteins, total #carbohydrates, and total #phenols, were assessed to understand how the culture medium components and seedling density impact the biochemical constituents of feedstock. The results of this study provide valuable insights for anyone interested in farming this important alga onshore.
