I help healthcare orgs hire physicians more efficiently AND improve trust and transparency in the recruitment process for physicians with Grapevyne using peer-to-peer recruiting. Also a practicing pediatrician!
Just got back from an incredible week of attending two back-to-back conferences: #AAFPFMX and #AAPNCE! As taxing as the trip was on one good ankle 😅, I'm energized by everyone doing their part in making healthcare better for physicians, patients, and communities. One thing that stood out to me was just how critical the workforce needs are right now, with an emphasis on primary care and behavioral health. Many specialties are facing shortages, but #familymedicine, #pediatrics, and mental/behavioral health are some of the highest areas of need, which leads to worse #populationhealth and overutilization of acute care services that could have been prevented. Those at the front lines and the #patients are seriously hurting. The big questions on everyone's minds: How do we train more #primarycare clinicians, provide better access for patients where there are the greatest shortages, and keep those in practice not just from burning out and surviving, but happy and thriving? Part of that last question comes from another theme I heard - the existence of a real mismatch between what employers (physician-employers included!) think employees value versus what employees actually value. This misalignment leads to increased challenges in recruiting and retaining high-performing healthcare teams. A special shoutout to Kimberly Brennan, MBA, CMPE from Palm Beach Pediatrics, PA for an eye-opening talk on this topic at the AAP conference—I couldn’t agree more with the points made. These challenges are exactly why we started Grapevyne. We want to help bridge the gaps, making sure job posts reflect what physicians value, and #physicians match to jobs where they can truly thrive. At Grapevyne, we boost job post engagement by creating listings that understand what matters most to physicians and increase job post visibility by rewarding peer referrals—because sometimes the best candidates are just one conversation away. How can you take part in this effort? If you're a physician, I’d love for you to visit our site at https://grapevyne.health, sign up, and share what we’re building with other doctors too! And if you are part of a practice or group trying to solve the #recruitment puzzle, consider adding us to your toolkit. Make the most of value-based care and ensure success for your medical practice with these 7 tips! "Since the Affordable Care Act was signed into law in 2010, CMS has been encouraging physician practices to move from a fee-for-service payment model to one that rewards value. It has been testing models that incentivize clinicians to provide preventive, proactive, and appropriate care that improves patient outcomes and experience and decreases unnecessary healthcare spending. Most recently, it has focused on ensuring health equity across all patient populations." #Physicians #Doctors #Pediatricians #PhysicianPractice #MedicalPractice #PediatricPractice

Seeing patients on time helps ensure patient satisfaction and retention. Here are 10 tips to follow to become an on-time physician, be more productive, see more patients, and avoid the erosion of your income. "Develop a time management philosophy and make staff and patients aware of your desire to maximize your time during the office. It all starts with a commitment to being an on-time physician. The doctor must commit first to this concept and then obtain the commitment of the staff that being on time, becoming efficient, and being more productive is vital to the success of the practice. You can’t have a staff trying to be on time if the doctor(s) don’t embrace the same philosophy." #Physicians #Doctors #Pediatricians #PhysicianPractice #MedicalPractice #PediatricPractice

I’ve decided to start a new series called “Physiology Fun Facts” because the human body is just so cool! (Nerd alert!🚨) 💚Physiology Fun Fact #1: Everything you “see” is less about what your eyes see and more about how your brain translates it to you. 1️⃣➕1️⃣🟰1️⃣ (Say what??) You have 2 eyes that see 2 different views of your surroundings, but you still only see 1 image. Think about it, your right eye sees everything from a few centimeters to the right of your left eye, but you still only see one picture. This is because your brain accounts for the difference in location of your eyes and meshes it into one picture. It uses this difference between what each eye sees to determine how far away the image is. (Side note: This is why depth perception can be so challenging if you are blind in one eye!) In come Sterograms, which are optical illusions that play on this concept. Behind the repeating pattern is a hidden message made by two images that are identical except for one part that is shifted just slightly enough to trick your eyes into thinking it’s actually closer to you than the rest of the image! 👁️ To see it, you have to actually look “through” the image. Here’s a trick—look at something on the other side of the room, and with your eyes still focused into the distance, put your computer in your line of vision. Once you see it, the secret message will seem to pop up off the screen! Let me know if you are able to see it! ~~~~~~~~~~~~ 🩺 My name is Renée and I am a Legal Nurse Consultant, Expert Witness, Educator, and currently-practicing RN with nearly a decade of experience in Pediatric ICU. Let’s connect and discuss how I can help with your next case! 📧 Renee@MallRN.com Renée Mall, MSN, RN, CCRN Legal Nurse Consultant, Expert Witness, & Educator Specializing in Pediatrics, PICU, & CRRT #PhysiologyFunFacts #OpticalIllusion #Brain #LNC #LegalNurseConsultant #LegalNurseConsulting #LegalNurse #Pediatric #personalinjury #wrongfuldeath #catastrophicinjury #medicalmalpracticeattorney #personalinjuryattorney Message me if you have any other fun facts you think would be fun for me to share as this series continues! Patients are more likely to stick with a medical regimen when it’s provided by someone with a similar background or ethnicity to them. However, the current state of the healthcare system lacks support in this due to little diversity. Dive further below into the importance of having a wider variety of diverse healthcare professionals and how it relates to providing more opportunities to people of color, as well as fostering deeper relationships with patients. “African American physicians make up about 5% of physicians across the board, but yet African Americans make up about 15% of the population, so it's underserved… One thing that studies have shown is that we learn more from each other than not, so having a diverse field where there's doctors and nurses and health care professionals that resemble the patient population helps to decrease implicit bias… And studies have shown that in particularly with African Americans that the ability to stay compliant with medications, adhere to the treatment regimen, is stronger when receiving it from someone that they find similarities.” #Physicians #Doctors #Pediatricians #Pediatrics #PediatricPractice #PhysicianPractice #MedicalPractice

☑️ *READ ASTRACT BELOW:* Keywords: Closeness; Infants; Neonatologists; Nurses; Parents Aim: Studies have provided insights into factors that may facilitate or inhibit parent-infant closeness in neonatal units, but none have specifically focused on the perspectives of senior neonatal staff. The aim of this study was to explore perceptions and experiences of consultant neonatologists and senior nurses in five European countries with regard to these issues. Methods: Six small group discussions and three-one-to-one interviews were conducted with 16 consultant neonatologists and senior nurses representing nine neonatal units from Estonia, Finland, Norway, Spain and Sweden. The interviews explored facilitators and barriers to parent-infant closeness and implications for policy and practice, and thematic analysis was undertaken. Results: Participants highlighted how a humanising care agenda that enabled parent-infant closeness was an aspiration, but pointed out that neonatal units were at different stages in achieving this. The facilitators and barriers to physical closeness included socio-economic factors, cultural norms, the designs of neonatal units, resource issues, leadership, staff attitudes and practices and relationships between staff and parents. Conclusion: Various factors affected parent-infant closeness in neonatal units in European countries. There needs to be the political motivation, appropriate policy planning, legislation and resource allocation to increase measures that support closeness agendas in neonatal units.
