Hello from Hawaii! Our team is at the Geothermal Rising Conference this week to discuss how geothermal energy can power a resilient and sustainable energy transition sooner than you think. On October 30th, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, our President Rob Klenner will join the panel “Geothermal for the United States Department of Defense,” which will focus on how geothermal energy can provide continuous, resilient power to a critical energy-dependent sector. Rob will be joined by Joseph Batir, Aubry DeReuil, Neil Ethier, Peter Marsters, Lev Ring, Ian Warren, and moderator Mike Callahan as they explore how geothermal is essential for energy security and national defense. Later in the day, from 2:50 PM to 3:10 PM, our John R. Muir and Andy Van Horn will present their paper, "The Third Electric Energy Transition Calls for Geothermal Energy Assurance," which emphasizes geothermal as premium power for the global energy transition now in progress. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gqH8qgXY 🔗 Read the paper here: https://lnkd.in/gQgrKKZf Can’t wait to see you there! #GeothermalEnergy #EnergyTransition #Sustainability #Innovation

Geothermal Energy is the key to optimize the global energy distribution that the world needs.
Last week, the 2024 New York Geothermal Energy Organization New York City Fall Conference brought together the best of the best in the Geothermal Heat Pump Industry. This was an incredible event with remarkable keynotes and educational sessions. The conference kicked-off with exclusive site tours of geothermal installations around New York City, including one of PWGC's standout designs installed at St. Patrick's Cathedral. Michael Scanlon, PE, Project Manager, was also a member of the Geothermal Drilling in an Urban Environment session panel. Mike discussed the added challenges of drilling in dense urban environments and the steps needed to ensure a successful project. Feel free to check out the recorded session on the NY-GEO website once uploaded.

Hello 🖐️🖐️Team 😊if we talked about geothermal Drilling today 🤔.. Geothermal drilling lets us tap into heat miles below the Earth’s surface for clean energy. If geothermal power became widely available, do you think it could replace traditional energy ♻️ sources? #geothermal #drilling #oil&gas #energy #transition #onshore #offshore #innovation

TOPICS AND CONSIDERATION FOR DEVELOPING STATE GEOTHERMAL REGULATIONS This document from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) provide information that states in the U.S. might find valuable when developing geothermal regulations that would be inclusive of all geothermal power and heating technologies (e.g., conventional and nonconventional power production and direct-use applications) with applicability in all states. This report contain: ◾ Geothermal resource ownership and definition ◾ Geothermal resource leasing and acquisition process ◾ Exploration approval process ◾ Drilling and wellfield approval process ◾ Underground injection control process #geothermalenergy #power #heating #technologies #regulations #drilling #exploration #wells #resources

Exploring Geothermal Regulations: Comparing the U.S. and Indonesia I recently looked into the detailed guidelines from the NREL report on U.S. state geothermal regulations and compared them with Indonesia's regulations. It's interesting to see how both places focus on environmental sustainability, fair leasing processes, and clear resource definitions. Indonesia's centralized regulation under MEMR highlights a more streamlined approach to geothermal energy development. #GeothermalEnergy #RenewableEnergy #SustainableDevelopment #EnergyRegulations #EnvironmentalSustainability #NRELLab #IndonesiaEnergy #CleanEnergy #EnergyInnovation

📢 "If you go deep enough, you can tap into all the heat you’ll ever need from anywhere on the Earth’s surface. However, this entails significant new engineering challenges, no small number of which fall under the category of drilling." A recent report, Drilling for Superhot Geothermal Energy: A Technology Gap Analysis, issued by the Cascade Institute and Clean Air Task Force highlights the full potential of harnessing the heat beneath our feet. Our EVP Corporate Affairs Jeanine Vany has more below including the full report. #EnergyForEavor
Firm, emission-free geothermal power and heat are poised to advance energy security and carbon-neutrality objectives globally. To maximize the full potential of this opportunity, harnessing the heat beneath our feet emanating from superhot rock (SHR), often found at depths greater than five kilometres, will be vital and ultimately achievable through drilling sector innovations. A recent report, Drilling for Superhot Geothermal Energy: A Technology Gap Analysis, issued by the Cascade Institute and Clean Air Task Force, corroborates this sentiment, underscoring the need to bring emerging, lower-level TRL drilling techniques, downhole tools, and temperature management technologies to scale. Achieving as much will require access to SHR in controlled laboratories, in-field settings, and strategic partnerships between established conventional energy and geothermal companies that rely on their longstanding expertise. Alberta and Canada are poised to capitalize on the next frontier of drilling innovation to catalyze commercial-scale geothermal applications by channeling the ingenuity of all vested partners. Achieving as much will enable an immense domestic opportunity to capture the global geothermal supply chain, promoting economic and environmental outcomes that benefit the international community.
