This article caught my attention by highlighting the advancements and benefits in geothermal energy and how it could soon be a major part in energy consumption. Increasing the use of geothermal energy could play a large part in the push for net-zero emissions. One way geothermal energy can do this is that it is a renewable energy source that produces heat which could eliminate one of the largest producers of carbon emissions, heating and cooling. It is estimated that in the state of Texas, if 15,000 geothermal wells are drilled a year for 4 years it would produce the same amount of energy that oil and gas provide for electricity and heat production. The article also states that the advancements in geothermal energy have come from the use of technologies used for oil and gas production. #PGE301
