City analysts were impressed by ATOME Energy PLC (AIM:ATOM)’s progress in its proposed green fertiliser project in Costa Rica, where it has now entered into a collaboration agreement to advance feasibility work. The company told investors that it will work with the Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE) to evaluate the feasibility of supplying the project power from 100% renewable sources. ATOME described the agreement as a “necessary and significant” first step in securing entirely renewable baseload electricity for the project, which will be Costa Rica’s first industrial-scale green ammonia and fertiliser project. Today’s announcement shows that ATOME’s technical and commercial IP can be replicated on a cost-effective basis in geographies with similar advantages,” said SP Angel analysts on the news. At Kinetiko Energy Limited, we're thrilled to share a significant milestone in our journey towards sustainable energy development in South Africa. The recent confirmation of commitment from the IDC (Industrial Development Corporation) to our Amersfoort project is a testament to our shared vision for a brighter, cleaner future. What's truly refreshing is the acknowledgment of the complementary relationship between gas and renewables. In an era where energy transition is paramount, having a robust counter argument for gas to co-exist harmoniously with renewables reinforces our belief in a diversified energy portfolio that meets both environmental and economic needs. The development of natural gas reserves in Amersfoort, Mpumalanga, is being punted as having the potential to reshape South Africa’s energy dynamics and play a pivotal role in the nation’s journey towards a more diversified and sustainable energy future. We remain steadfast in our dedication to responsible energy development, and this affirmation only strengthens our resolve to continue pioneering innovative solutions that power progress while preserving our planet. #KinetikoEnergy #SustainableEnergy #GasAndRenewables #AmersfoortProject #IDC #EnergyTransition #CleanEnergyFuture https://lnkd.in/gnnCGPW7

ProVest Group Installs #SolarSystem to Boost #Sustainability at #Steelpoort ProVest Group, a South African provider of services to the mining, industrial, and construction sectors, has successfully implemented a #solarenergysystem at its Steelpoort facility in Limpopo province. This project aims to enhance #energysecurity and reduce carbon emissions, particularly in the context of ongoing loadshedding challenges. According to plant manager Martin Kubyane, the reliance on diesel generators led to increased carbon emissions, prompting the exploration of alternative energy solutions. By installing a #solarsystem, Provest can secure its #powersupply, lessen grid dependence, and meet production targets more sustainably. The solar initiative is projected to save ProVest Group over R50,000 monthly on generator rental and mitigate production loss risks due to power outages. It is estimated to prevent an annual carbon emission of 52.02 tons, underscoring Provest's commitment to environmental responsibility. #solar #solarenergysystem #solarsystem #powersupply #energy #renewableenergy #sustainability #Africa https://lnkd.in/gEFVUsxQ

Ainur Sospanova: Small-scale generation key to autonomous energy supply of oil companies' campsites The 7th Uralsk Green Forum took place in Uralsk on September 20, 2024, focusing on “Climate Change: Challenges and Prospects of Advanced Technologies.” Organized by Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. (KPO) and the Akimat of West Kazakhstan region, the event gathered industry leaders to explore pathways for sustainable development. The forum's sessions covered critical topics like #energy #efficiency, #decarbonisation, and #environmental start-ups. A key session on “Energy Efficiency and Decarbonisation” was moderated by Andrey Kuznetsov, Development Engineering Manager at Karachaganak Petroleum Operating b.v. Forum speaker Ainur Sospanova, Chairperson of the Board of the Qazaq Green Association, outlined the complexities of Kazakhstan's energy network, split into three zones: north, south, and west. While the north and south zones are connected, the west, including West #Kazakhstan region, is linked to the main energy grid only via Russia. This disconnection limits the integration of renewable energy in the western region. Sospanova highlighted that Kazakhstan’s renewable energy potential is immense, especially in wind, solar, and small-scale hydropower. She pointed out the state's supportive policies for investors, including 20-year contracts for electricity purchase from renewable energy producers. Direct agreements between producers and consumers are becoming more popular, particularly in the oil and gas sector. She also emphasized the untapped potential of distributed small-scale generation, such as rooftop solar plants, which could provide autonomous power to oil and gas companies operating in remote areas, including shift camps and field households. The forum attracted key participants from the Ministries of Ecology and Natural Resources, Energy of Kazakhstan, and private sector leaders in green energy. The event’s goal was to foster collaboration between different sectors to implement the Green Economy Concept and promote sustainable technologies for the region's future development. https://lnkd.in/eDuNBfJh

Using Oil & Gas Technology to provide 24/7 renewable energy! Another great episode of Zero, where Akshat Rathi interviews Tim Latimer CEO of Fervo Energy where he describes using 150 years of oil & gas drilling technology to support modern geothermal. Coincidentally I was also just reading a white paper by Viridien on offshore geothermal which could also lead to other commercial possibilities like Fresh Water creation, Green Hydrogen and Ammonia, and possible Mineralization for CO2 sequestration. I love it when two separate parts of our business could potentially work together, Oil/Gas and Environmental Modelling. Although we are in the Decommissioning space for Oil/Gas rather than E&P but it makes you think about whether old oil wells / fields could be repurposed for geothermal? Could we model it?
