Last week Christian Bayne, MBA represented Greenlane at the 3rd Annual Florida Harm Reduction Conference, focused on how Fentanyl testing & other harm reduction strategies play a part in communities around the US.

Whilst the formative issues go unaddressed the river will keep dying. Over-extraction issues, water flow issues, fertiliser and pesticide pollution from farm systems that are deeply destructive of aquatic ecosystems. The change must start up the bank. Clean catchments make clean water. They need vegetation. They don't need pesticides and toxic synthetic nitrogen. The urgent attempts at oxygenation failed, and were an embaraasing waste of public money. Fish did not just die over a few days, they have kept on dying and birds and turtles and mussels. We must pay farmers to change to farming systems that don't poison the well.
Here's a new video summarising our recent independent review into the mass fish deaths in the Darling-Baaka River. We wanted to acknowledge the commitment of the Menindee community to the river, and their generosity in sharing their knowledge with us - which was pivotal in our understanding of the river. We thought it appropriate to ask the community to share our report in their own words. It's a different way of communicating for us in the Office of the NSW Chief Scientist & Engineer, but it's something we're very proud of. I hope you gain a different perspective from watching.

Harm reduction saves lives and treats people with dignity.
People often think of harm reduction only in connection with substances but we use harm reduction everyday. Some examples are:
- Seatbelts in cars.
- Liquor stores which regulate safe supply of alcohol.
- Using a nicotine patch instead of smoking.
We need to think of harm reduction in connection to substances and the those who use drugs in the same way. Let’s keep people safe, alive and connected to supports.
