🌍 Amongst some stand-out performers, the Mazda MX-30 R-EV offers the everyday solution for range anxiety🌍 The ratings released today, in Green NCAP’s last release for the year, cover the following cars: the MAZDA MX-30, the Mercedes-Benz GLA, the Opel/Vauxhall Corsa, the Tesla Model 3, the Hyundai KONA, the Dacia Duster, the BYD ATTO 2 and finally, the CHERY OMODA5. ⚡ All vehicles show some outstanding sustainable features under stringent testing, and there were some high-performing scorers in the line-up; however, in this release, Green NCAP calls out the MAZDA's reuse of a unique powertrain. ⛽🔋 “Green NCAP often calls on carmakers to consider the needs of consumers who are looking to lower their impact on the environment but need to find cars that fit their living situation. The MAZDA can cover most everyday trips as an electric car yet offers the comfort and confidence of going further in petrol mode should the trip be longer than expected. The car deserves attention due to its interestingly engineered powertrain and good scores,” praises Dr. Aleksandar Damyanov, Green NCAP Technical Manager. 👏 Mazda Motor Europe Mercedes-Benz AG Opel / Vauxhall Motors Ltd Tesla Hyundai Motor Europe Dacia BYD Company Europe / BYD EUROPE Chery Europe GmbH / OMODA UK Read the full press release here 👉 https://lnkd.in/gKt39_j8 #forgreenercars #cars #sustainability #lifecycleassessment #futuremobility #greenmobility #cleanair 💨 #vehicletesting #zeroemissions #LCAtool 🔧 #fossilfuel #EV #electric #hybrid ⚡⛽ #petrol ⛽ #diesel ⛽ #families 👨👩👧👦 #family #familycar #suv #ICE #Mazda #MazdaMX30 #MercedesBenz #GLA250e #pluginhybrid #starratings #Opel #Tesla #Hyundai #BYD #Corsa #Model3 #KONA #ATTO2 #Dacia #Duster #CHERY #OMODA5

🌍 An Alternative to Full Electric? The Honda Civic Impresses🌍 This month, Green NCAP tested a batch of seven cars to determine their green credentials. They include two vehicles from Honda: the Civic and the company’s first-ever electric SUV, the e:Ny1; the Jeep Avenger, also recently assessed for its safety; Mercedes-Benz GLC, MINI Countryman S, Škoda Karoq and the Subaru Crosstrek. Five SUVs in the line-up, two of which – the Jeep Avenger and the Honda e:Ny1 – are electrically powered, will surely appeal to consumers. However, it is the new Honda Civic that impresses Green NCAP with its efficient hybrid system and robust performance. 🛣️ The Honda Civic proves to be a top choice for those looking for an alternative to electric. The Civic is energy-efficient and offers a more sustainable option than other larger SUVs given its lighter body type. 🚘 “Looking ahead to 2025, Green NCAP plans to adapt the rating scheme in alignment with consumers' increasing interest in practical environmental metrics. This recent batch of results highlights the importance of these upcoming protocols, especially as hybrids and clean diesel technologies demonstrate they can also meet the rigorous standards under our updated focus,” announces Dr. Aleksandar Damyanov, Technical Manager of Green NCAP.🚙🌿 Read the full press release here 👉 bit.ly/2411GreenNCAPPR 🚗 Honda Motor Europe Ltd Mercedes-Benz AG MINI UK Škoda Auto Subaru Europe #forgreenercars #cars #sustainability #lifecycleassessment #futuremobility #greenmobility #cleanair 💨 #vehicletesting #zeroemissions #LCAtool 🔧 #fossilfuel #EV #electric #hybrid ⚡⛽ #petrol ⛽ #diesel ⛽ #families 👨👩👧👦 #family #familycar #suv #ICE #Honda #Jeep #MercedesBenz #MINI #Skoda #Subaru

Toyota GR Sticks to Multi-Path Emission Reduction Strategy Follow me for more technical data :https://lnkd.in/evN3jc94 Despite the automotive industry's shift towards full electrification, Toyota Gazoo Racing (GR) has announced that its future GR models will continue to use internal combustion engines. Models like the GR Supra and GR Yaris have marked Toyota's return to the sports car segment, while the GR Corolla and GR 86 have invigorated the hot hatch market. Recently, Tomoya Takahashi, President of Toyota Gazoo Racing, confirmed in an interview in Australia that GR models will persist with combustion engines. "We want to use internal combustion engines as much as possible," Takahashi told Car Expert. "There may come a time when gasoline cars are completely banned, but the engine itself is not the enemy, the real enemy is carbon emissions. We are investing in the development of future engines." Unlike many car manufacturers moving solely towards electric vehicles, Toyota is adopting a "multi-path" approach to reduce emissions. Takahashi highlighted that the GR division can utilize hybrid systems to lower emissions while also being open to using carbon-neutral fuels. "Through hybrid technology, we can reduce carbon emissions and also use carbon-neutral fuels," he stated. "We are not sure when electrification will become widespread. Globally, there is still a discussion about whether all cars will become electric. No one can accurately predict the future ten years from now. Our direction is multi-path and not limited to purely electric vehicles." Takahashi also mentioned that Gazoo Racing aims to build "fun cars" rather than solely focusing on speed, differentiating themselves from some purely electric performance cars. "Speed and handling are different," he said. "We want to make better cars." Last week, Gazoo Racing's head hinted that the company's next model might be a performance-oriented SUV. Potential candidates for the GR treatment include the C-HR and Yaris Cross, but Toyota might also introduce enhanced versions of the Corolla Cross or RAV4. #Automotive #Toyota #GazooRacing #HybridTechnology #Sustainability #EmissionReduction #PerformanceCars

In the run-up to the announcement of the overall winner of the 2024 #UK Car of The Year (#COTY) Awards , the seven major category winners in contention for that prize have just been released. Interestingly, whilst one in four cars sold in the UK now being a #plugin -electric, five of the seven category winners were #fullelectric! Even more interesting was they were all from different vehicle manufacturers … and that #Tesla wasn’t amongst them. (As Tesla released no new #EVs to the UK market in 2023). Another interesting aspect is four of the five EVs are available (or soon to be) in #Australia, but only one of the two internal combustion engine cars is. (The Honda Civic Type R). The list of winners in contention for the overall UK COTY are listed below – those in bold being fully electric: • Small Car – #Renault Clio • Family Car – #Hyundai Ioniq 6 • Small Crossover – #Volvo EX30 (Australian arrival expected very soon) • Medium Crossover – #FiskerOcean (Not available in Australia) • Large Crossover – #Kia EV9 • Executive Car – #BMW i5 • Performance Car – #Honda Civic Type R To qualify for an award, the car needs to have been launched on or after January 1, 2023, or be on sale by December 31, 2023. Scoring is done by every judge voting for the car they want to win that section. If there’s a tie, those tied cars go into a second round of voting with each judge choosing their favourite. If that produces a tie, the chair has a casting vote. From there, to decide the overall UK Car of The Year Award the judges then vote for their preferred overall winner out of the category winners. The overall winner will be announced this weekend (Australian time) – but whichever car is the final 2024 UK COTY winner – #EVs in general are the unmistakable winner in being considered the leading technology in the vast majority of vehicle segments.

Every problem has one or a few proximate causes - or centres of gravity. Polestar and Volvo all share the same one flaw. Lack of scale to be a successful legacy carmaker and an EV manufacturer at the same time. No one outside the Top 10 carmakers can do that and hope to succeed. Volvo is a good brand, and upmarket brand - but its scale is still smaller than BMW which is outside the top 10 but more upmarket than a Volvo. So letting go of Polestar made sense to Volvo's bottom line. But now Volvo is neither here nor there. It is launching EV models slower than Li Auto, even slower than Toyota. Polestar - Volvo's former performance badge (ie,. the equivalent of Merc's Brabus) is an Xpeng competitor but lacks the funding and scale of Xpeng. It could have been a winner if they all foresaw that PHEVs were probably the best niche in the West. With Zeekr, it risks Geely losing interest and backing a winning horse. But outside of Tesla, BYD and Li Auto - everyone is losing money selling EVs; and it will only get worse before it gets worse. Sometimes Big is good, if like Toyota you know what to do with it. (Make money from PHEVs and hybrids to triple down on EVs that you are learning how to make now, to fight for a future that you are lagging behind BYD.)

Renault Kiger long term review, 14,00km report https://ift.tt/ahQC5uI The Renault Kiger CVT has been my ride to work for a year. It replaced the Kiger Turbo MT in our fleet, which I used in the last few months of its tenure with us. Of the two, I enjoyed the CVT more, thanks to its relative effortlessness. The long-term cars that I take home are mostly hatchbacks due to tight parking spots in my locality, and the Kiger, with its sub-four-metre footprint, is one of the few SUVs I can manage. I love the high seating position and its commanding view, which makes it easy to get used to very quickly, especially if you are upgrading from a sedan or a hatchback. This also means you’re less prone to direct eye contact with the bright and misaligned LED headlamps found on many two wheelers, which can be very annoying. Front seats are comfortable for long periods of driving. For a compact SUV, its cabin is very spacious and I have had five full-size adults in the car without any hassle. There have been many airport trips and multiple intra-city drives with five passengers and I have never heard any complaints about space. I loved the three-spoke steering wheel with its backlit controls, but there was some noise coming from the steering rod in the last few days, especially when turning the wheel to more than one lock. The 1.0-litre turbo engine with the CVT is well suited to city use, which is where our long term Kiger munched most of its kilometres. The pedals are positioned well and unlike the manual, the CVT version gets a proper dead pedal, which is a blessing on longer drives. The trip meter resets itself randomly. The digital driver’s display changes with the drive modes, and strangely, you don’t get a tachometer in Normal mode, which is the one best suited to the city. Sport mode adds the tachometer (and better responses) but the fuel economy drops quite a bit. I tried the Eco mode a few times, but it’s not something I would recommend, unless you are on a really tight fuel budget. In this mode, the engine response is horribly weak and I found the car almost undriveable. The CVT gearbox does not get any manual shifting option (it has no ‘gears’ to begin with), but all you need is just a slight tap on the accelerator to bring it into the torque band for a quick overtake. What I did not like much is the engine noise intruding in the cabin. It sounded sporty initially, but it has since gotten annoying. Swallowed four medium suitcases easily. What I also liked about the Kiger are its unique looks. You still don’t see too many of these on the road, but when you do, they are unmistakable. The wide nose with sharp-looking LED headlamps make the Kiger look much more expensive than it actually is. Many people ask me about it’s price and are stunned to learn it’s cheaper than most other mainstream rivals. The low-placed headlamps have an excellent throw and light up corners well. The Kiger’s AC performed well, especially during the...
