Very good first day at WindEnergy Hamburg ! I started with an Interesting talk to kick off this year’s trade show: VDMA hosted Industry experts on how the European Wind Industry can drive competitive edge and resilience. Main talking points were harmonization of markets and differences in regional industrial policies. Actual market situation is challenging for all players, but if we are able to work together e.g. on harmonization/standards, we will overcome obstacles. Haras Najib Armin Necker #erstklassig 😇

On July 9, there was an exciting visit to Dornier Power and Heat in Berlin! A Chinese delegation led by the National Energy Administration and the Electric Power Planning and Engineering Institute CO, LTD was on site. Organized by GIZ, the experts had an intensive exchange about the flexibility of coal-fired power plants. Udo Gade and Ronald Rost provided insights into how Moorburg and Jänschwalde were made flexible. The guests were particularly interested in the measures for rapid load regulation and the reduction of minimum output. In China, 50% of the large coal-fired units have already been made flexible - some even to 20% minimum load! The information that the power plant units in Moorburg and Jänschwalde have now been shut down was met with astonishment. Finally, Frank Schulze presented the innovative P2M solution for online monitoring and predictive maintenance. These technologies help to reduce costs and CO2 emissions and are a real game changer for plant operators! #dorniergroup #bettertogether #international #China

Now an annual tradition, two key #infrastructure and #energy industry events happened recently, the Infrastructure Investor Global Summit #IIGS in Berlin and #CERAWeek in Houston. #InfraNEDs actively contribute to each of these conferences and we would like to share some key takeaways with you: 1.    At #IIGS, the major market trends powering the “infrastructure of the future” were identified as #Digitalisation and #Decarbonisation ( “Transition Investing”) and they are intertwined. Infrastructure matters in delivering a just transition across the globe. 2.    From A.I. to Oil, the challenges of balancing energy demand and supply dominated the talk at #CERAWeek … 3.    Finally, the infrastructure risk / return profile is changing, particularly as regards energy… Investors, senior executives and Board NEDs (Chapter Zero) are essential in the stewardship of infrastructure and energy and should flip the conversation from short term “operating cost savings” or near-term returns to the long-term outlook and opportunities. Managing #impact and #climaterisk is vital.
