Valio announces key personnel and research themes for the leading project, Food 2.0 ✨ In February, Valio was selected by Business Finland to lead Food 2.0 - an initiative to develop the food system of the future and promote the competitiveness of food exports. Veera Virtanen has now been appointed as Ecosystem Lead of the partner ecosystem within the project. Further, developing the future food system will be divided into four research themes: 💎 Future products 🤖 Technology transformation 🥛 Regenerative production ♻ Circular economy and resource efficiency Around 50 business and community partners have already joined the ecosystem, and the goal is at least one hundred partners. Event season 2024 is in full swing, and it was great to attend one of the must-attend ones in the space of #proteininnovation and #foodtech, here in EDERA Lab turf! Thank you, The Future of Protein Production, for another insightful conference. It was great to reconnect with clients and industry contacts. 🤝 Marina Schmidt 🍎🍏 beautifully moderated the insightful panels, alternating between technical insights and critical discussions addressing hot topics, like #scalability and commercialization. As an essential take-away, investing and driving commercial traction in the future of food remains critical. Our #Proteins4Singapore research team had a highly engaging and productive experience at the Asia-Pacific Agri-Food Innovation Summit. This year’s theme, “Accelerating Climate-Adaptation Strategies for Food Security,” provided a dynamic platform for meaningful discussions with a diverse mix of stakeholders within the #AlternativeProteins value chain, including early and later-stage startups, manufacturers, academics and policymakers. Last week I had the pleasure to assist to an Impact Talk at Porto Business School's Innovation X Hub! The session, "Forging the bio-based future: Food & Nutrition," was an extremely insightful discussion by Rita Vilas Boas, Ana Catarina Gomes, Eunice Silva, and Anabela Ferreira on how biotechnology is providing sustainable solutions to the global challenges on food production and consumption. It was fascinating to discover the parallels between the food and cosmetics industries. Both sectors face similar challenges, such as regulatory hurdles (necessary but often cumbersome), constant need for innovation, and the need to bridge the gap between academia, startups, and corporations. The speakers' experiences in food innovation offered valuable lessons that could be applied to cosmetics and beyond. My congratulations to the Innovation X Hub for organizing such a thought-provoking event. It is not easy for supermarkets to base on sales forecasts received to make new orders. 🎯 #LOWINFOOD partners received interesting feedback from users on how to structure the forecasts to make them more user-friendly.
